Reapir a Burnt out Lite-on Drive

I was trying to extract the keys from my lite-on. I was in the middle of performing the half open tray routine. However, when I took out the power plug I reinserted it backwards. Right away a spark, smoke, and burnt smell from what looks to be one of the resistors.

I can't swap drives because I never got to extract the keys. Does anyone have any experience repairing a burnt drive? If I just switch out the burnt resistor would it work again? What type of resistor would I need? would one from Rat-Shack work? Is there any other components of the Lite-On that would have to be repaired? Thanks in advance.

if you didnt get the keys or anything, then you are pretty much screwed i believe. maybe someone will come in and say im wrong, but i doubt it.

Wabashman is correct.

Who knows what it smoked when you plugged it in upside down. I had somewhat of the same issue happen to me with a junk probe with the wrong voltage. It smoked the voltage regulator right at the R707 hole and traveled all the way over to the MT1319L controller chip.

You can probably sell the 360 as parts or what not to make back somewhat of your loss. You will need to buy a new 360.

Thinking about this a little more, now I'm wondering if desoldering the ic with the firmware and resoldering it to a good LO board would work. That'd be a heck of a lot easier and quicker than testing and trying to replace burnt out components.

If you run out of options, let me know. I'd like to try it. I do have a spare LO board.

I just hope it didn't get into the controller chip and fry anything in there.
