Well, yes a modchip can harm your Wii if you install it wrong. Soldering wrong points, bridging points, ect. But... You are getting a Wasabi DX, which is a plug-n-play modchip, it takes no soldering! I have a D2Pro9 V3 and I love it, but I have heard very good things about Wasabi.
No, Nintendo will not repair a modded Wii. But since you are getting a solderless chip there will be no traces of solder on the board, so as long as you carefully take the Wii apart and put it back together they won't be able to tell it has been modded.

I disagree on point 2. There are several posts on this board that have documented that Nintendo WILL repair modded Wiis. They will remove your modchip and send it back to you with the repaired unit.
