Since I have a Lite-On and it seems to be a real pain to get new firmware on it. I was wondering if this would be any easier?
I'm only asking because it doesn't mention anything about Lite on's
only the older drives

It really isn't a pain to get firmware on Lite-ONs. They can be a bit of a pain because you have to probe the PCB board to retrieve the DVDkey. From there, it is like any other drive.

Would't this be abit better since you can flash the drive without having to open the xbox every time an update came out?
Plus, I think it looks kind of cool!!
But it don't mention Lite on's at all. Do you know if anyone has had sucess with this?
Thanks alot, leerage you've been a ton of help already!!!

I'm sure it is compatible with Lite-ONs.
There has only been 2 firmware revisions since the beginning of the year. I'm guessing ix1.6 is here to stay awhile unless something comes up and requires a firmware update. So I just don't see the need to spend 50$ to make it easier for me to flash my drive twice a year. But that is just my opinion.

I think I'm gonna get this (in about 2 weeks).
I mean since I have a Lite-On I'm gonna have to spend at least that much anyways buying the stuff I need to flash it

I'm not trying to stop you from getting one, but at max you would have to take your XBOX 360 apart twice a year. Firmware revision aren't as often as they used to be. That is just my two cents.

Just thought of something, if you want to play backup games your going to have to flash it anyway... So why spend the money for the kit to flash it, and but a Blaster which is useless. I can get a 360 apart, flashed, and put back to together in a matter of 10 minutes, blasters are really a waste of money. I would honestly take the $50 you were going to spend on the blaster and get a Kreon drive.

Agreed. I would do this before getting a Blaster....

True, it only cost about $8 or so to do it... But if he is still under warranty that will throw it down the drain. I would only suggest doing the SATA mod it you have iXtreme 1.6 and want to use the 008 feature.

bro I made my own extraction tool so it didn't cost me anything to flash my Lite-on. If you don't have the resistors and such then it might cost about $5 - $10 to make.
Here is the post from a couple months back with the schematic of how to build the tool. Homemade tool

Not necessarily, you can do that sata mod but instead of cutting a hole in the back, you bring it through the top grill (like the blaster 360). Btw I would definately suggest not to buy a blaster, my friend bought one, he installed it properly (he is experienced with computers) and his 360 wouldn't work. Took it off and his 360 worked again. He returned it no fuss, it turned out just to be a dodgy sata cable. A $90 (aud) item should not be that poor quality.
