You need Homebrew to play those ROMS. The application can be in the Homebrew Channel in apps folder or as WAD channel. Look on the sticky note how to install(main page located on top).

Well strictly speaking you don't need Homebrew channel or anything else installing if you have a chip.

You can burn the snes emulator along with all your roms onto a DVD with GC bootable disc GUI (available to download in a few places)

You set the snes9x as the bootable dol and fill a folder named ROMS full of your roms, very easy programme to use, I made my own snes and genesis discs this way.

GGXena:

Is there a guide available that shows how to create a bootable disc for SNES or Genesis roms?

As i read it from my source, it seems like burning snes roms is a bad idea.

this is not a good idea. The disc will stop working as
soon as ios37 is activated.
Plus, I don't think the current
batch of wii homebrew can read the disc.

So you can make a disc that
will load the emmulator for a limited
period of time. But you will still need a
SD card to store the roms. You are much
better off just storing the emmulator on the
SD card too. A new version comes out every week.
I also hope you know you do still need a Gamecube
controller to use a homebrew launcher, unless you
choose to boot Snes9x directly from TP or the homebrew
channel. there are no wiimote enabled loaders yet.

That specifically says homebrew, we are talking about modchip.

I have had homebrew snes and megadrive discs working and saving for months now and never had a problem even after installing homebrew.

Not sure if there is a guide anywhere, just download the file I mentioned and it is pretty self explanatory. you drop the rom .dol in as the boot and make a ROMS folder to put all your roms in.

Confermed. I to have Snes, Sega, and NES channels on my Wii, and all these emulators can read roms from SD,DVD, or USB drive. No Chip here. Just soft modded.

1) Backup Launcher is old. Neogamma is new http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=158884
1A) to get the Neogamma Channel http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
2) Superdump (Requires homebrew) dump your game in 30 minutes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780900
3) Make your Wii skip updates! Use preloader 0.29 and enable skip updates. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader
4) Scared of Bricking your Wii? Make an NAND backup! Install BootMii http://bootmii.org/install/

Good to know it works without the chip too, but mine aren't channels, they are the emulator burned straight onto DVD along with a folder of roms.

I believe running the emu from HBC and keeping your roms on a DVD would pretty much work the same as having channels too though.

Hey there is something sweet about seeing Mario running across my Wii channel in retro style! But Yea, you can keep these emulators on homebrew and they will work just fine

Also, which version of snes9X should I get to be able to play roms with a modchip, but not a softmod? There are versions for windows, linux x86 and linux x86-64. Which version can the Wii play? Again keep in mind that I'll use a chip, not softmod.

And is it true that you have to use a GC controller to play these roms? If so, does the standard GC controller hook up to the Wii?

Wiimote, Nunchuk, Classic, and Gamecube controller support is included in snes9x GX.

You can make a disc by going hither and downloading the WiiUI 1.4 toolset (the file on that page). Place the ROMs in the ROM folder and start WiiUI.

~Steps:~

Tools>Emulator Disc creator>"Nintendo SNES" under the "Choose Emulator" menu>build image.

The file created will be an ISO; Download a freeware program known as imgburn from HERE and open up the program:

Select "write image to disc"; locate the file (iso) created and click open. It will be selected in ImgBurn. Select "1X" Write speed, and then click burn. Let it do its thing. When finished, open the drive, remove DVD, place in modded Wii, enjoii.

Thanks for that guide, but I downloaded that program and don't see any option for "tools" (or any of the other options listed in your guide). What am I missing? All I see are add files, add folder, delete file/folder, add/change boot dol, change temp dir, change output file, and make iso as options that can be clicked on. There is no dropdown menu at the top of the program. What am I missing?

Very sorry about that, I forgot that version has a different GUI. I edited my post so that it will take you to the correct version. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fiilex, thank you very much!

Will this work for both NTSC and PAL on both the SNES and MegaDrive/Genesis?
