Hey,
I am in no means new to the whole burning of 360 games and have burnt a good few with absolutely no problems at all.
However, I have had my 360 firmware upgraded to 1.6 and burnt a selection of wave 3 games. Initially, all 3 games were working without any trouble at all however now when I go to play any of these the 360 reads it as a dvd and it loads up the 360 logo on a white background.
Any ideas on why? And more importantly how to fix it?
Cheers
Higgy
ps im using aone discs and have done on about 10 other games and never had a coaster so I dont think its poor quality discs. Plus its probably worth mentioning all the older games I have still work fine.

Maybe those aone disks are weakening the laser, and for some reason it will not read wave 3. I would reburn onto verbatims and clean/pot callibrate the laser.

I can't see how the laser could be on it's way out it's probably had no more than 40 hours of use and not all with backed up discs either. Console is probably only a month or two old...
Any other suggestions? I was thinking it was perhaps a fault with the firmware itself?

Fault with the firmware... nope. The firmware isn't doing any mechanical work. So it works all the time or it doesn't work at all (bad flash).

It's either your laser, your burn quality, or your disc quality.

Keep in mind the iXtreme 1.6 firmware spins backups at a constant 12x. That's a lot of work for the drive. Trying to read at that speed will magnify every small error.

Lite-On? If yes make sure you realy got iX 1.6 and not the old pack with 1.5. They made a repack because of that. Go download from xbins.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

It is a liteon drive but surely if it was 1.5 it wouldn't play the wave 3 games at all right?
I will buy some verbatim dual layer dvds. Where is the best place to buy in the uk?
Thanks for all the help

I flashed my own xbox 360 with Xtreme 1.6.0 and I was having the same problem, so I flashed it back to Xtreme 1.51, which I think is a better firmware for Wave 3 games (for now); I hear that 1.6.0 is still buggy, and I think there was a coding issue with the firmware I had used in XBINS. I am not really sure; however, I wouldn't lean on it being a mechanical issue just yet.

I was also getting a lot of OPEN TRAY errors before, but after opening my ODD and cleaning it out with a cloth, it hasn't happened anymore. Couldn't been a mechanical error or the firmware flash from Xtreme 1.50 to 1.51 may have helped it...

The Cloth may not have been the greatest choice, but it really helped this situation. I guess with everything you do with anything mechanical, there's always a risk...

By mechanical, I meant any hardware doing physical work. If you cleaned out your drive and now it's playing better, then you were having a mechanical issue.

I meant to say "Could haven been a mechanical with the open tray issue, or a firmware fix"

Thank you for correcting me though...

Nice picture of yourself, must've been a Hard-Knock life for you?

Ok, im going to try reflashing to 1.51 and see how it goes from there.
If that fails il get some verbs. One last question...just because the new games have the wave 3 video does that make them harder to read?
Because I find it strange that the older games in my collection still work fine. Thats my reason for thinking it may be a buggy firmware?
Thanks for all your help people
