Can anyone please help me or point me in the right direction.

I just put my wbfs drive into my PC to copy about 100 games onto a new bigger drive, (that I had just formatted on the wii), when I put it into the pc it came up with an error, "no wbfs formatted drive detected." which was weird as I had been using it in the wii with no problems, and i had also used it in the pc with WBFS 3.0.1 manager before.

So I put it back into the Wii to make sure it was still OK, and the wii is now telling me there is no WBFS system either!

Is there any way to get the data back off the drive without a format, All the DATA is there, I REALLY, dont want to have to sit there and RIP all my games to the drive again....it took days!

There must be some sort of weird file format error, at the beginning of the drive.

there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

afaik, there isn't. WBFS cannot be read by oridinary means, so recovery programs can't see it.

Well, after hours of searching though forums, I have come to the conclusion that, if your wbfs drive decides for reasons unknown, not to work anymore, you are SCREWED!!!

I eventually reluctantly gave up, formatted the drive and started the process again.

From this experience I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE PEOPLE USING WBFS MANAGER to manage their games.

If you at all care about the integerity of your files on your wii drive.

the safest option i can see is to ONLY RIP FROM YOUR WII and NEVER UNPLUG THE DRIVE. because even if you attempt to back up your drive, the process of taking the drive to connect to another drive (as I was trying to do) can cause a corruption of the drive.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

GOOD LUCK OUT THERE AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

there are many factors to corruption. sudden cut of power, bad enclosure, bad drive from factory.

WBFS manager has caused no problems to me. i've used it on vista and win7 with no problems. you can only blame WBFS manager if you can recreate the error. otherwise, it's the drive and/or enclosure.

I have to agree with the above post blaming one thing on something anything could have caused is not the way to go. I wouldnt use USB loader if I couldnt use WBFS..

Also the Wii wasnt made to do any of the things were making it do here. So expect problems and expect headaches.. Just remember to keep all your files up to date and dont do anything until you read every possible guide and tut on.. You not only need to know how to execute the hack but you also need to know how it works and EXACTLY what it does.

Just to clarify, I am not blaming WBFS manager, just pointing out that it has the potential to be buggy and you can loose all your data, as there is no way to correct an error if it occurs.

I'm just saying if you don't unlpug the drive from your wii, then weird stuff can't go down. (or less likely to happen).

there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
