Hi all,

I have a v3.2u wii, modded with D2CKey. I have burnt 2 games(from downloaded iso), Virtual Tennis 2009 and Boom Blox Party which are both quite new games. After inserting the game, the game intro screen is displayed on the wii menu. However when i tried to click start on the intro screen, my wii just hangs and my wii remote lost connection(shuts down). Has anyone encounter the same problem?

After doing some research, i found out besides the system version(3.2), there is also a "IOS" version. Is the prob due to my wii unable to support the 2 games' IOS since both games are quite new?

How do i know what IOS does my system supports? Anyway to "upgrade" the IOS?

I am thinking of installing homebrew channel and run the game using gecko os. Will this help to solve the IOS problem? Is it advisable to perform a soft mod on a modded wii?

All advices are welcomed and much appreciated.

Thank You in advance.
Cheers!

Your Wii's firmware is quite old i would suggest upgrading it and then trying the games.

Also did you BrickBlock any of the games you are having trouble with? as i would have thought that these new games have updates included, and the games are the same region as your wii?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes i have used the software WiiBrickBlocker to disable the updates in the iso before burning them into dvds. Both are of the same region(US, ntsc) as my wii.

Ok then the reason you are having this problem is because you have BrickBlocked the games. It is safe to run the update but only if the game is the same region as your wii, the update in the game is needed so the games run without problems things like that so i would suggest burning the ISO again but without BrickBlocking and this should fix the problem :)

Also i should have added that you should continue to BrickBlock games if they are NOT the same region as your wii so you dont brick your wii and render it useless.

Hi karlroby,

I have thought of updating my wii firmware. However after going through the forum, i realised that 3.2U firmware is the most stable(no restrictions) unlike the later release. Is that true?

Another thing is will running the backups using Homebrew channel->Gecko os help to solve the problem?

Thank you again.

Cheers!

I have not seen any reports of updates causing problems with hardmodded systems provided that you don't do anything that begs for trouble like running out of region games.

I have an original Wiikey running 1.9s. My Wii is running 4.0U. I run over 200 different backup games with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!

I have run PAL games and Japanese NTSC games with no problems as well.

1. This is untrue and the reason you are having the problem with your games is because your firmware is too old for the latest released games and updating the firmware to 4.0 will be fine and will not stop your modchip working or anything like that.

2. This could solve it but you have paid good hard cash for that modchip so why not get it working as it should?...Also i find it can sometimes be a pain to get the HomeBrew channel installed and the wii hacked with installing many different things such as knowing which IOS's are needed etc to get the games working and you will probably still end up updating to firmware 4.0 anyway if you go down this route.

I would update the wii to firmware 4.0 (the latest) through the settings on the wii directly from Nintendo and then try the games without having used the wii BrickBlocker on them, if the games still ask you to update then run the update from the games but only as i said before if they are the games are the same region as your wii and then your games should work ok. :)

Thanks you for all the replies.

The problem was fixed by updating the IOS of my wii(ios38,53,55), without updating my firmware. This is done via homebre channel and using the wad installer to install all 3 ios ".wad" files.

Hope this will be useful for all others who are also encountering the same problem.

Cheers!
