First of all, I say possible only because it doesn't come up with the overheating message, but once the system has cooled down the issue goes away for a while.
Ok, now on to the problem at hand. My PS3 is having it's graphics freeze whenever I play a game for any real amount of time(I'd give an actual time, but it's varied from literally seconds to about 40 minutes), or when it boots up. I'm almost lead to believe it's whenever it has to access the hard drive for the game, but I can play DLC without any issue, and also if I take out the HD when it boots it still glitches. I'm lead to believe that because it doesn't happen if it's in the middle of a level, only if I say start a mission in GTA4 or inFamous. After it does freeze, it has a hard time booting up without it freezing in the same way.
The freeze is odd too, because the graphics just glitch hard (same goes with AV connection, not just hdmi, and on multiple TVs) but the sound keeps going, even onto other tracks on the game, or the menu sounds. The PS3 isn't remotely hot, and there's no noticeable dust, but I have to wait to open it up to check the inside due to not having a freakin' proper Phillips-head screwdriver (I just bought it used so I have no clue how well the guy kept it dusted, but the vents were spotless).
Now the best idea I've come up with is that the heat is causing something to separate slightly, causing the freeze, and when it cools down it reconnects and lets it boot up normal.
So have any of you heard of this happening or am I a lone warrior on this one?
