Sending messages to PS3 friends list from PSN?

I am currently separated from my family and trying to reach back to my youngest son via PS3 friends list messaging. He is always online and I do not have a PS3 as of yet. I set up a PSN account and can see my PS3 friends list which shows that he is active and online, but I cannot find a way to message him. Has Sony bridged or gateway?d friends list messaging from the PC realm to the PS3 environment? If so, can someone please walk me through the steps to message my son?

You mean you set up an account on a computer? If you want to message him over PSN you are going to have to do it with a console afaik... sorry mate.

Thanks Stick, yeah PSN account was set up on a computer. Maybe Sony will one day cross from one environment to the other??? Appreciate your response!
