Semi-bricked wii, can I easily change 4.0E to 4.0U?

I've semi bricked my wii by installing 4.0E from a game labled as NTSC-U. I have the system menu 417 wad which is the 4.0U one but I'm not sure how to get my Wii to install it. Can I just burn it to a DVD and pop it in? Or do I have to downgrade with the SDcard loader method and then install 4.0U. Or perhaps it isn't even possible?

Any info, suggestions, or re-directs I would be grateful for!

(not trying to downgrade for SDcard stuff all I want is to change to the 4.0U firmware so i can access my settings again!)

I have, thanks though =), what I'm confused about is do I just stick the new systemmenu.wad in with the other files from "http://hackmii.com/2008/05/semi-brick-fix-discs/" or do I need updated files (because that is the fix for an older systemmenu).
