tried my first attempt at flashing a xbox 360 drive with ixtreme 1.51
Could someone please advice if the flash was done correctly...
Drive: Hitachi 59
Sata: directly on the motherboard (Nvidia MCP61 chipset)
1)Used Slax 2 boot disc to set the drive in mode b
(pressed eject 2X to open\close so I assumed the drive was in mode b)
2) Downloaded ix 1.51 from xbins
3) copy & pasted orig59 and ix151-59 to the "firmware" folder in JF
4) opened JF got error "No comports were found during enumeration!. "
(Question: can this error be ignored?)
5) went to the Hitachi tab ... no drives were recognized under "port properties" but since the drive was recognized under "drive" ignored port properties
6) switched to "Use Win API"
7) first ran "restore FW" as i had ix 1.4 already flashed
8) then ran "Flash iXtreme"
both 7 and 8 ended with "Flash complete" but seeing as I had ignored a lot of issues like 4 and 5 I was curious to know if I had done a proper flash of the drive
Note: I ignored 5 as i had already put the drive in mode b (1)... is this ok?
Please help me out as I am very knew to this, Thanks! :)
Thanks for the quick reply leerage :)
but I want to also know the answers to the questions in the first post
1* Can "No comports were found during enumeration!. " be ignored?
2* Can we ignore port properties (under Hitachi drive) if we put the drive in mode b via Slax disc and the drive is recognized under "Drive" (under Hitachi tab)
3* What's the difference between using "Win API" and "Port IO"

Yes, a comport is only needed for a Lite-ON drive.

Yes, if you boot Slax and put the drive into Mode B that way, there will be no need for trying to get the drive recognized under port properties.

WinAPI and PortIO are basically two different interfaces that communicate with the drive to get it read or flashed. WinAPI is used with VIA Card with drivers and onboard SATA that is compatible. PortIO was incorporated for users that have removed the VIA driver for Lite-ON erasing and flashing.
