I have a 360 pro that i did the xclamp mod and rrod kit to. It would always work for a month or 2 then i would have to go back in to redo just to get it to work again. I am getting pretty annoyed that i have to keep doing this. I was wondering if i get a heat gun and try to resolder the circuits do you guys think that would be a more permanent fix? Also if anyone is in manhattan new york that wouldn't mind taking a look at it for me please pm me.

MS added the e74 under the 3 year warranty.
I can reflow, but I would recommend just grabbing a warranty sticker from ebay (if you didn't save yours) and sending it in. I'd rather see you get a whole refurb'd console from MS than me take your cash.

I appreciate the honesty bhetrick but this console is very destroyed. The dvdrom benzel is gone, part of the back is melted and the clips on the inside back is broken. It is very obvious that it has been opened(wasn't done by me). The inside has the xclamp mod and the rrod pads. I don't think getting a warranty sticker would help my situation and i highly doubt MS would take it.

If you guys think i'm better off just buying a used console then i most likely will considering i'm sick of fixing this one. If you guys have any recommendations on places i could buy a cheap console please let me know.

Instead of buying somebody elses problem just get a new one.
I had a e74 error, I fixed buy putting a little heatsink on the "HANA" chip (or something like that) Then the DVD drive died a couple weeks later. The 360 didnt survive my wrath.. hehe

so what do you recommend? I don't want to buy a new console and i don't want to spend like $70 for a fix that will last like a month or 2.

If you don't keep a guilty conscience, you can always go to Wal-Mart and do a nice little switch.

Well, wal-mart doesn't have a conscience.

I thought reflow was a pretty permanent fix, I would just pay to get it reflowed. Or (if you have a hdmi console) just go to wal-mart/eb games etc, buy a new console, switch the cases and take the "faulty" console back. If you do not have a hdmi port, you could find a place that is selling pre-owned consoles (preferably not a small business, eb games sells them) and switch the cases.

Suggesting the swapping of cases for return isn't a very good idea on our forums, let's please not continue such discussions.
