Alternative Memory Unit Suggestions needed please.

When I tried to complete the latest system update, I was informed that I needed additional strorage space. It says I need 128 MB and I have two 64 MB cards. I've tried deleting data from cards. I've tried using a flash drive, 2 different external HD's & even tried burning the update to a disk. Nothing is working...sigh! I hardly use the console to play games. It's main purpose being to stream my media from my MacBook Pro to my HDTV & surround sound syst. wirelessly. The uncompleted update has stopped any & all video streaming. Audio files still steam. I really am not able to spend $150 on the 360 HardDrive! I'm hoping there is an alternative method that might be available. Any help and info is greatly appreciated!!

Yeah, but you get 10x the storage in the 20gb for around the same price.

Yeah, but you get 10x the storage in the 20gb for around the same price.
And also I'm very skeptical of 3rd party cards.

First let me say Thank You for your replies. But I have to say I'm disappointed that my only option is spending more $$. Why does the XBox 360 website state that there are alternate methods if they don't work??! (grrr) I tried burning the update on a disk using my Mac. Could the Mac/Windows barrier possibly be a problem? Last question is why won't the flash drive work either? Thnx :)

If a flash drive (or other third party device) worked would you buy the over priced 20 GB hard drives from M$? I know I wouldn't. After I purchased the 20GB I used a WD hard drive and make a 120GB at least I feel like I got my $?s worth.

I don't know why it isn't possible to flash a regular flash drive with the oem memory stick's properties so you can use any usb stick on the 360.

Its a long shot, but you could call customer service and ask them if they will still honor the free memory upgrade. When they first came out with the update they offered a free 512 Mb memory card or a 20 GB hdd for $20.
If they honor it, you could get out without paying anymore(with the memory card option). I don't know if they would still do it considering it was almost a year ago when they had the update, but its just a phone call.
