Hi, i put avi files on usb for my son to watch... so far they all play on his 360.... but i have one file (monsters inc)... when i try to copy it to usb i get this message

"are you sure you want to copy this file without it's properties?
the file monster inc.avi has properties that cannot be copied to the new location."

when i clicked yes and copied the file anyway i could not play it on the xbox ...

anyone have any ideas why one avi won't play?

it plays fine on the comp....

thanks

I'm guessing you have windows vista i never bumped into this problem with xp. But anyways i'm guessing your usb stick is fat32? if it is try formatting it to NTFS that should clear up the problem.

i found this hope it helps you

1. Download qaviinfo.exe and save it to the same folder that your AVI file is located. Mine is at C:\Downloads for this example.

2. Open a DOS command prompt (Start > Run > CMD) and navigate to that folder. Type CD C:\Downloads.

3. The name of the video file in my case is presenta.avi. So I can now type qaviinfo presenta.avi.

4. A list of information about the file will be displayed. In the Codec column you can see what codec is being used. Here it is FMP4.

Uh, yes, and your Xbox 360 won't recognize the stick anymore.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

i've got it sorted.... the avi had codecs that would not play on the xbox (divx3 low motion) so i tried AVS video converter and just converted that avi to another avi and it worked :) i then used gspot to check the codec and it has changed...

thanks
