Are you less likely to get banned from XBOX live by playing backups burned from .iso files your ripped yourself vs. backups burned from torrents? Do legal copies of games have unique identifiers that M$ uses to identify "bad" copies?

And, yes I know about using abgx360 to "patch" downloaded files before burning.

Thanks!

I would always trust a game I personally rip every time vs a game downloaded from the internet.

So I personally do believe ripping is safer than downloading. You'll see a lot of people will agree with that.

But downloading is becoming very safe because of abgx.

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat

Thanks!

Is there a way to download a torrent but patch the iso before burning with the your own identifier rather than the ones from the abgx360 database?

For example, I'm thinking of renting a game and applying its unique id to a downloaded iso before burning. Is this unique ID called the SS or the CRC...? Sorry for the noob questions but I've searched and had a hard time finding answers to some of these basic questions.

Just rip the game. Unless you have a Hitachi or don't have a Kreon.

The XBOX I have has one of the newer lite-on drives. I had someone else flash it for me and I know that he had to use a probe to get the key. Does this make a difference?

No, if it was flashed with ix1.6, it has 0800 capability which will allow you to rip games. If you are going to go to all the way and rip a game to dump the SS,DMI,PFI, etc, you might as well just rip the whole game and trash the ISO you downloaded.

Even though iXtreme 1.6 has the 008 feature, I still prefer Kreon Drives because they fit nicely in your PC.

I only have a laptop. Can I use a SATA or IDE to USB adapter to connect the Kreon drive to my laptop?

Yes there is a USB caddy that will work with the drive.
