I have a plantronics headset for the xbox 360 and I cant hear people talking through the headset. People can hear me, but nothing comes through my headset (but it comes through the tv if I use that option).

Under preferences and voice, I have the volume all the way up, not
muted, and checked to come through headset.

I borrowed a friends headset and he has a plantronics and one that came with the xbox (it goes around your head). His plantronics also does not work, but the other over the head one works. Any suggestions?

Shot in the dark here buuuut, maybe it's broken. (wire, speaker, connection)

Try hitting it off something.

hahaha. "hitting it" didn't seem to do the trick. I figured mine was broken, but then when I tested it with another one the same as mine and then a different type, things got confusing.

By the way, I did try different controllers and still the same results. its very odd.

Also, this just started happening, but was working fine since I bought it and until now.

I find you confusing. So it was working when you got it though. Definitely think the problem is with the device itself. Try it on another 360 like my buddy Chris says.

I had this happen to me the other day as well it was very weird. I have a wireless headset but it had died so i plugged in my wired and i could not get sound (even though it worked perfectly the last time i had used it). i could however hear over my speakers and they could hear me. after plugging in unplugging and checking settings and what not for about 15 mins i gave up and went w/it. right before I quit playing however the sound returned w/o me changing a thing, I found this very odd.

Well that is very wierd db5304, but mine has been doing this for a few days now and I have tried many things and it hasnt come back for me yet.

chris4160, I did try all three headsets in my friends xbox with his controller, so everything was completely different than mine. However, same results. Two plantronics not working, one xbox headset working.

And yes, it was working when I bought it for many months, now it stopped.

more suggestions?

were they both working on another xbox w/other controllers as well? if not i think they are probably shorting out maybe try wiggling the connectors on both ends (going into the headset and the jack itself).

Is there a link for instructions/tutorial to take it apart, or did you just pry at it with a screw driver?

I kinda agree. If you feel your competent enough, take it apart and see if a wire came off. (It happens)

And if that don't work smack it off something.

Logik...I want to see you broke down on the side of the road.... As long as there is a rock handy you will never need to call for a tow truck. Just beat the motor for a few hours and start it back up, eh?

I must agree though, when all else fails, drop kick that mofo. Even if it doesn't fix it, it will make you feel better. But I would try taking it apart first.

Too bad that doesn't work for consoles. Thats why I ended up drop kicking it. It had a long good life but god it made me feel better seeing it fly across the yard.
