Hello everyone.. I have bought Whisper Max Nitro fans and 1 core cooler fan.. They have been installed and have no probs.. I can use the 5V OR 12V with a click of the switch.. I have a Smoke Black see through case.. It fits great.. I already have tested the system with the xbox case off..When the case is installed.. It doesnt work..I have tried turning on the console from controller, and even from the primay button on the system.. Nothing.. I get a red light on the Power unit block..This has happened before and I thought I solved it.. I took the inner crome top from the OEM Xbox case and covered the xbox making it a whole metal box again.. Added the Case and it worked.. 2day.. I moved the system to another place..I didnt have it on.. But now it doesnt work..If it helps: The Xbox has already been opened b4..There was this grey wire taped from the mobo spliced into the wires of the stock OEM Fan..I have taped that wire with electrical tape and I dont see that as my prob..Any Ideas on how to fix this prob?.. Thanks in advance..
well first of all putting the lid on the xbox is not the problem, you might'ove spliced something wrong. post pics please. because saying it dose not work when you put the case on is like saying your car will only start with the hood up. it does not make sense. (and quite frankly is impossible, unless someone installed a kill switch as a gag) :)
I havent spliced anything in the process of installing the whisper max fans and core fan... My xbox has already been tampered b4..When I got it.. There was a grey wire connected to the mobo and spliced into the red and black of the Original xbox fan.. Im assuming that grey wire is the ground?.. Heres some pics..Hope there good enough..
In my opinion, the grey wire is ground. And your xbox has a bad ground. You disconnected the grey wire from the fan, correct? Most likely they used the ground from the fan to ground the MB. Test the grey wire with an Ohm Meter to make sure its ground, and if it is, try touching the wire to the side of the case and see if it works then.
MAKE SURE it is a ground and not power. If its power you will short the board out. But if its ground then it won't be a problem.
that grey wire is connected to a 12v power source. the 2 solder points to the right of it are also 12v. that could be causing your power issues. i would get rid of it if you're not using it for anything.
I had a hunch that the grey wire was used as a ground wire..I removed the wire and the system works fine without the case..The prob was when the case was enclosed it wouldn't turn on..I guess it was that ground wire that was pressed against the mobo.. I haven't put the case back on because I'm waiting for a crystal fan duct and aurora light kit.. I will update this thread and post u guys the finish product with pics! Thanks to carlton, edge and homesick.. Much appreciated..
