ok, so here's the deal. I'm pretty sure that it's my chipset that's causing this, but i cannot get dosflash to read my BenQ drive. My chipset is an intel 82801eb which to my knowledge is an ICH5. Are ICH5 chipsets compatible with Benq drives... I was told that if i use dosflash, that the chipset type does not matter as long as i have a sata port. I can however see the drive under the device manager, but it's disabled and when i go to enable it, i get "windows was unable to enable this device". Every port that i select with dosflash says that it's an eide port. Any ideas?
I don't know why you were told that DosFlash32 would make your incompatible chipset, now compatible. It does matter what chipset you have. Most ICH chipsets do not work. I have ICH7 and it for sure doesn't work. I know some people have had luck with ICH8/9. So, if your onboard SATA will not work, you will need to purchase the VIA SATA card with the 6421 chipset. Trust me, it works for all 4 XBOX 360DVD drives.
