Which firmware to play Non-Stealth games?

Hi, a friend of mine wants me to flash his new 360 since his old one has broken, according to him. His games(that he had before dealing with me) are of the non-stealth type, and his previous 360's firmware was:
Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth 8in1 on a Hitachi drive.
The drive he is giving me to flash is also a Hitachi. What firmware should I flash onto it to play his non stealth games? Would ixtreme 1.5 be ok, since that did not have the manditory stealth of 1.6? I've only dealt with ixtreme, so I'm a bit confused on this. Thanks

Your gonna sacrifice security of a xbox360 for playing non-stealthed games?
This sounds crazy to me. If i were you, id forget about the nonstealthed games and update to 1.6 being its the safest one. Then just get the games again and stealth them.
If its your friends and you really dont care for him then put 1.5 and you can play all the nonstealthed games you want lol. jk

Lol, sorry, forgot to add to my message. He doesn't have XBox Live nor plans on getting it for that console. Otherwise I'd go with 1.6 lol

1.5 would be fine for nonstealthed, as long as theyre not wave 3 ;) You need at least 1.51 for wave 3. So its a question whether he/you wants to play wave 3 games, which i think he/you does.

Nope, they're not wave 3. He's a weird one, no desire in newer games so wave 3 won't be a problem. 1.5 plays nonstealths just fine? Looks like there's the winner. Thanks!

If they are completely non-stealth, I don't think iXtreme will boot the games. iXtreme 1.51 does not have the CRC check for the video partition. I believe Xtreme 5.3 and lower will boot non-stealth.

Want to know something strange.. what's with this "wave 3" junk.. I flashed a pair of 360's 18 months ago (overlord messed up the dash.. error 65? and I learned how to flash and achieved it in 30 minutes from scratch.. fekkin genius I know) with 1.5 and they still haven't encountered any problems. Unless that's what the retard owner has been looking for me after over the last couple of days.. but 4 weeks ago there were no problems.. and he downloads the latest stuff as soon as it's out.
Any ideas?.. it's xtreme 1.5.. not 1.51 or anything.. it was the latest.. thinking back.. overlord had just hit the newsgroups.. 2 years ago??

Wave 3 issues only apply to people running iXtreme firmware. iXtreme 1.5 firmware and below will not boot pretty much any game after March 2009. Now if it is the older Xtreme firmware, I believe around 5.3 and lower, will boot any game. Simply because it doesn't have any checks for Stealth, CRCs, etc.

You could try Xtreme 5.3 for Hitachi. I believe it should boot non-stealth.

Just doing a little more research. I don't think Hitachi revisions were made up to 5.3. Just trying to find the firmware on Xbins. It should be the Gary OPA firmware, but make sure it doesn't say stealth.

Yeah I didn't see it on XBins either. the 3 Maximus Garyopa all say stealth. The 3 Maximus Xtreme 1.5's all say stealth. :( Could you be more specific?

i believe older 1.2 or 2.4 xtreme FW will work for your buddy if he wants an older non-stealth FW.

It's ok. I think the Maximus Garyopa Xtreme 2.3 will be ok:
Boots all Xtreme Xbox 360 backups
Boots all Xtreme Xbox 1 backups supported by emulator
Boots all Xbox 360 originals
Boots all Xbox 1 originals supported by emulator
Use on Xbox Live at your own risk
He doesn't have live and just wants to play old 360 backups. Seems to be the one

Nevermind...my friend isn't too good with this stuff. He lives in another state now, so he mailed me his drive. It's a Toshiba-Samsung. I'm waiting for him to call me back with what he had on it, but does anyone know a non stealth firmware for a TS now? lol

go with the unstealthed version of 5.3. this should allow him to play original xbox 1 games on a dvd-5 instead of a dual layer also. one of the best all around FWs that was made.

Hmm..all I'm seeing on XBins for the TS is the stealthed xtreme53. The wiki for ixtreme says the ixtreme 1.4 non stealth would work, but the xbins package only contains the 2x-12x stealth versions. Ugh, I have no problems flashing ix1.6 but problems with a non stealth firmware lol

No problem. I'm just getting conflicting info on various sites is all. Some say use non stealth version of ixtreme 1.4. Others say no ixtreme is non stealth. Some say use xtreme 5.3, but then I see warnings of stealth checks in it.

i dont think there is an unstealth version of iextreme but i could be wrong. and i know 5.3 will work as its not an iextreme so the only thing it should have checked was the SS files.

This says there is, but who knows lol. I found the supposed xtreme 5.3 non stealth for both TS MS25 and MS28, not sure if they're legit, and I don't think I can post that site here.
I'll assume they are legit, since you also said 5.3 will definitely work. Ok so my last concern is: Best way to flash xtreme 5.3 onto this? I've only used Jungle flasher for all 4 drives for ixtreme 1.5-1.6
