Uninstall the VIA drivers and install port i/o. That'll cure the freezing. You have to manually delete the viamraid.sys file from the c:\windows\system32\ folder and in the c:\windows\system32\drivercache\

Anybody know how to solve this at all?

Would soldering the points make it work? If so does anybody have a diagram that can be understood?

The serial to USB adapter you are using, did it come with a driver disk?

yes, i ran the disc and it said drivers only need to be installed on win95, 98, 2000, ME, and said "finish".

i have exact same driver versien and cant find the serial number . my on board is ich 10 waiting fo rmy via card. can i flash it without a probe? and how do u use dosflash 32 cant seem to get it to work something about port drivers.

The only thing that seems to have not been explored is the SATA-->USB adapter. I'd look that direction next if I were you.

is it poissible that my serial to usb adapter is causing the problem? (computer not got serial port)
