I have a D2Pro and a WiiClip (seperate not pre-soldered).

My Wii is one of the first models - DMS chipset.

I've noticed that if you order a pre-soldered you are asked to specify the chipset.

But you are not required to do this for the D2Pro or the WiiClip seperately.

The only difference could be which pads are soldered together.

The general instructions simply say solder them all - I have tried this but just get a solid red light.

Wondering whether I should only solder a subset as I have a DMS board.

My WiiClip has the following pads

GND
3.3V
5
6
7
8
9
C
D
E
F
G
H
J

I'd appreciate some advice.

Cheers,

Nigel

Since you have a DMS Chipset you only need to solder...

GND
3.3V
G
H
J

Make sure those are the only ones you solder. If you solder more then that it could cause issues.

Thanks, I was beginning to think that.

The wired instructions give the connections for each chipset (Pads designated by letter)

But what about 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

These are never refered to - should I ignore these.

Cheers,

Nigel

Okay, I've unsoldered the D2Pro from the WiiClip.

As far as I can see the 5,6,7,8,9 pads have no electrical contact - just for structrual support.

I left CDEF unconnected - put some insulation tape on the pads to make sure.

It now seems to work.

Well I get the right lights and it plays original disks okay - need to try and make a backup now.

I've left the JP1 and JP2 open. I assume this means that Region will be detected by the first disk I install.

Or would it be better to close JP2 (PAL - my region).

Cheers,

Nigel
