dreambox 500c need help

i bought it a while back off a guy and just had to plug it in to get it working
i stupidly did a factory reset trying to get it going
im living in ireland how do i get it going again i only have o2 broadband so dont have a modem can anyone help me please

go into winrar click on file once then click extract to ....click desktop press ok then load that file into ur loader if your not getting the loader extract that the same way

sorry for bothering ya the null modem cable i need
i have an rs232 cable from a digivox t and a usb to serial converter to plug into the laptop will this do because i cant plug a null modem cable straight into laptop its a different connection

A null modem cable is a null modem cable independently if you use it for a digivox-t or a dreambox.
You have to use dreamup for flashing a dreambox.

Would Anyone be able to tell me the on screen prcedure to flash the dreambox 500 with an image ( the new fix )using flash fxp,connecting via the router, it wont connect using a null modem and dreamup, nothing happens after it says "switch on box" .
The box is working with a DW2.0 image when connected to TV , i need to install the new DK image.
I can drag and drop the new files(HYPERCAM 1.06) with FLASHFXP,but it wont work with the current image.
Is the null modem cable to only way to flash it, as the connection on the box is not working.

Is the null modem cable to only way to flash it, as the connection on the box is not working.
Iv tried all everthing to get it to connect via null modem.

Disable network inside dreamup and choose the right com port for the null modem connection.

i can connect my other box up and its fine on dreamup, using com port 1, all settings are the same ,when i put the other box on, nothing after i switch it on.

It looks like the comport is faulty at the non working box.

yes ! thats it, iv tried changing that port with one from the working box, but still nothing, it will connect ok with a cross over cable to a router, can i flash it that way ?

the box wont flash it says it cant find the file
im using an rs232 cable with a usb to serial connection
when i connect the box it recognises it then i plug in the power and the loader fills up when i click flash and find the file and try open it it says it cant

You have to decompress the file first. Use WinRAR.

Corrupted file. Either bad download or the file is damaged and you have to find a other download.

Hi westham88 when I have the box flashed successfully its frozen Remote wont controll it Only way is disconnect from power momenterilly and asyou know at that stage the cam goes or am I missing something Thanking you in advance

where the link at the top of this page in tryabits post sends you
flick on to page 100 westham has a step by step layout with new software if ya read the posts the software mentioned earlier isnt good and its updated try that one because i flashed with that one last night and was having remote trouble to i couldnt get the ip address because of it

Hi All,
well, I have to say that after months of trying to sort out our 500C, WE GIVE UP!!! We've followed all the threads and the more we get into it, the worse it gets. One piece of advice leads to another round of trying to find out what all the abbreviations mean etc and even more confusion. To us, it's like reading Martian!!! Thanks to all you knowledgable people out there doing their best to help, but we have learned - and feel we should point out to anyone thinking of buying one - that this machine is like a computer, it can do everything, it's a great piece of equipment - if you know what you're doing and into this kind of thing. Unfortunately, all we want is something that can get us all the channels, we don't want it to do anything else, and we have probably made a simple problem worse by trying to fix it,so it is now stuffed in a drawer.
If anyone wants to let us post our Dreambox to them to fix and send it back to us so that we just have to plug it in and it will play, we will be truly grateful and will reimburse costs if it's worth it. If not, does anyone want to buy it so we can put the money towards another relatively simple Eurovox, which is no trouble at all to even us thickies?
Confused and Disappointed of Liverpool.
