The game could be compressed,or edited to remove un needed stuff, for some people 50GB wouldn't take that long to download.
On the other side of things, you shouldn't be downloading games of torrents, the main aim of the guys who reverse engineer/hack is so that we can back up our own games not steal them of the net.

You say that but I am an avid news group user and blu-ray rips are becoming increasingly popular. The dark knight, which is 38.91 GB, has been downloaded 2224 times from the site I visit alone and I?m sure the number is much, much higher when considering other locations. And don?t forget how fast broadband is now, I live in the UK and have a 50Mb connection and can download 1GB in about 3 minutes so a 50GB file would only take 150 minutes. More than acceptable when you think about how long it used to take to download just one mp3 album with 56k dial up.
Really, Im pretty sure when Dark_Alex did his work backing up his UMD's was not the main goal. Before any progress is made there will need to be kernel acess. which will be needed to run unsigned code AKA homebrew.
