Somewhat of a newb needs mod help on 3.3

I already modded my 3.3 using twilight hack and eventually updated to 4.0. Trying to help a friend and i keep getting error 2011 when i try to install any wads.


System is a 3.3 did twilight hack and installed HBC. ran cios36rev7(this was the one i used) and later updated to 12 before going to 4.0 on my own wii. I didnt install bootmii or dvdx - when i went to dvdx i did not get an option for ios 249, highest number was 51 i believe. tried to install wads using version 1.3 and keep getting an error message - 2011. Please help me to fix this error and dumb it down as much as possible. I have spent a lot of time searching threads but i am not sure how to proceed.

More then likely the system is a OCT 23rd 3.3 system and installation of cIOS and WAD files have been blocked.

Your best bet is to update to 4.0 firmware then follow this guide HERE to get the system in a state that can install cIOS and WAD files.

Since you already have the HBC installed skip that section of the guide.

Thank you for the quick reply. So if i didnt install cios36 rev7(in fact i got an error when attempting) or downgrade ios35 before going to 4.0... I should still be able to install wads after going to 4.0 and following guide

The OCT 23rd/3.3 and 3.4 firmware blocks cIOS and WAD files from being installed just like the 4.0 firmware does.

There is a fix to exploit the OCT 23rd 3.3/3.4 firmware but it is old news.

Now it is easier to update to 4.0 firmware. You will then Downgrade IOS35 and patch it to exploit the system so you can then install a cIOS and WAD files. There is no need to install cIOS36_rev7. Just follow my guide and you will be good to go.

So i just got a chance to update to 4.0. Now when i click on homebrew channel i get a black screen and the remote goes out? what gives?
