i wouldnt waste my time with replacing the benq with a hitachi. they suck. very picky about media, and just plain suck. you should really just get another benq drive. then all you have to do is flash your original benq firmware to your new drive with jungleflasher.

@wabashman -I disagree, I have a XBOX from 2005 with a Hitachi 47 and its given me no problems. I did have to do the POT calibration for it to read back-ups. They are the most problematic of the XBOX drives, but if you have one spare I recommend using that save forking out for a Benq

DON'T DO IT!!!
If your drive is completely dead and you need the hitachi to play until your benQ arrives then by all means go ahead but as a replacment it is no good. They are a pain in the ass, LOUD and picky as hell. I can play most games after warming up my hitachi but some newer games like "prototype" and "transformers" wont play at all. Spend the $40 to get a benQ. you'll thank yourself!!

you probly want to search or start your own thread. Not sure the topic starter would like you hi-jacking his thread but make sure your via drivers are UN-installed and you have your portIO installed.

Shand360, you might need to install the 5.30c driver and use JF with WinAPI. I have the best luck with Hitachi using that method.
Here is the 5.30c driver:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NKWNS2OZ
It will require a manual install through Device Manager.

In the Device Manager, right click on the VIA card and hit update software. Windows should ask if you want it to search or you can do it manually, choose the manual option. It will probably ask you again, choose manual. Might say something about show all devices, click next and then choose the option that says Have Disk. You will browse to the folder you downloaded and choose the .INF file. Click next to install and then reboot PC.
WinAPI is just an option selected in Jungle Flasher.

Try a different transfer method. The option to change is in the lower right hand corner of the Hitachi tab. Maybe try Mode select.
