Sooner you install it, sooner you will protect yourself from bricks (Aka rendering your Wii from a very expensive paper weight) .

What Bootmii does it makes a copy of your Wii (NAND backup), so if you do something stupid like playing with themes, or updating your Wii with an out of region game, or your Wii stops working.

You can convert back to where your Wii was working. All thanks to your NAND backup.

FYI: Do try to install it as boot2, and it will take up around 500 MB (but you can transfer your backup unto your computer)

1) Backup Launcher is old. Neogamma is new http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=158884
1A) to get the Neogamma Channel http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
2) Superdump (Requires homebrew) dump your game in 30 minutes. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780900
3) Make your Wii skip updates! Use preloader 0.29 and enable skip updates. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader
4) Scared of Bricking your Wii? Make an NAND backup! Install BootMii http://bootmii.org/install/

after you intall bootmii, load it up by turning off the wii and turning it back on with the sd card in. Make sure the bootmii folder is present on the sd card, and make sure their is 500mb of free space on the sd card.

Now to use bootmii you need a gamecube controller. If using a wireless one hold any button on the controller down when you turn the wii on or the wireless GC controller will not work. Best to use a wired controller if you have one.

Anyway, once bootmii is loaded go to settings, and then backup your nand. It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. Once done remove the sd card and insert into your computers card reader. Remove the nand.bin file and put it somewhere for safe keeping.

Supposedly you can use the reset, and eject button on the front of the wii to control the bootmii menu, but it did not work for me. I had to use a wired GC controller.

let us know how it goes.

Actually you don't need the gamecube controller anymore. You can navigate around the BootMii by using the Wii buttons on the console itself.

I forget which is which but press Power,Restart or Exit and you will be able to move around BootMii without the controller.

I'm New here too. Now that I have completed the BootMii step and successfully installing the Homebrew files necessary to play my backups via DVD or USB I feel even more empowered to try new Homebrew Apps.

BootMii as far I as understand it is a restore Point. Am I correct? I'm Not sure if other out there do this and maybe I will quickly change my mind but I plan to run the BootMii app periodically and save the bin file to my PC in dated folders in case some day I Brick the thing.

Does the Bin file contain all the Channel, Save Game data, and Updates?

Is it like ghosting a hard drive?

I did have some troubles at first not getting my system to boot into the program. I had to try a different brand SD card. Just Copied the BootMii folder over and BINGO worky worky.

The BootMii .bin had an id# when it was creating. BUT can you use someone elses .bin in another system? Would this then look to Nintendo as two of the same system when online?

Nice try but no. If you did that then it would give you an error " This NAND backup is for a different Wii" You see each Wii is completely different. (the type of blocks, the amount of bad blocks ect..ect) And NO, you can't get rid of bad blocks which is Normal.

HOWEVER the famous waninkoko is working on rev14, he already said that there will be an NAND Emulator. What this means we don't know but I am thinking that this will enable to use other people NAND onto your Wii.
