My question is why use NERO when I have gotten perfectly fine DVD backups using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink? The copies thus far play fine on my stand-alone DVD player. However I see so many posts recommending NERO I am wondering if I may be missing some great features. Thanks

In previous versions of shrink you needed another program to burn the ability to burn is new in shrink so you no longer need a standalone burning program

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it. I considered getting DVD X Copy at one point in time but based on the posts in the forum I am truly glad I was able to find this forum. Thanks again.

Shrink doesn't burn on its own, it merely interfaces with Nero to burn.

what he meant was that the newest version of shrink is the only one that lets you burn with DVD Decrypter.

incase anyone wants to know how to set DVD Shrink to burn with DVD Decrypter, when you click backup, "under select target device", select "iso disc image", then an option will come up asking if you want to burn with DVD Decrypter.

Couldn't find any "Option coming up" -

(What do you want to do with with that silly little box that's always there and says -

?Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image?
If I check it all is well, ISO is burned to HD and Decrypter burns to disc. If left unchecked your ISO files are burned to HD only.

No worries Pete. I was just funnin' ya - I tend to forget that being silly sometimes doesn't carry well over the net :)

I honestly didn't realize you could burn with Decrypter which goes to show that I should poke around with the options more before I let my fingers get carried away on the keyboard!

A hint there my friend, when you get ready to setup Decrypter to write ISO, make sure you un-tick "verify". Leaving it checked could cause you to have to respond to error messages.

Setup Decrypter before you start shrink backing up. Then feel free to close it - Shrink will open it when it's needed.

You'll find complete directions that I've left on other threads -
