Hey everyone I hope someone can help me. I bought my friends 360 off him because he said it was going to die because every time he puts in a real game it takes a long time to read but eventually does. I figured it was just dirty because he is a smoker so I gave it to a friend to clean it out and flash it to the new firmware for me. When i got it back no matter what disc I put in, either a back up or real one, it says reading disc then goes right to open tray. Is the entire drive dead or do I just need to replace the laser? Could it just be a bad flash and should I try it again? It is a ben q drive. Thanks for your time and helping me out.

Does it read dvd's. It sounds like it needs a new laser.

I didn't think of trying a regular dvd movie. All I tried was GOW2 and a back up of GOW2 and both said reading then went right to open tray. Has anyone ever replaced a laser before? Are they easy? Is there a tutorial for it? Thanks again.

Did the laser get cleaned?

When you put a game in, does it try to spin up the game before it goes to open tray?

It may also need a POT Calibration, use the search option to find out how.

Thanks for the help everyone. I do believe the lens got cleaned and I looked into the POT calibration and its looks kinda intimidating to me but I think I'm going to try stuff out tonight and see where I get. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Well thanks to everyone's help I got my 360 running games again. I just cleaned the laser again with some nail polisher remover and now it reads games. Thanks again everyone.
