Hey so I've just flashed my drive and I'm ready to start burning some games. I've been reading a nice little .pdf tutorial called the Idiots Guide to Xbox Hacking 2008.
It has a section on burning and it was telling me to successfully burn a game, I must 'hotswap' my dvd burner. here is a snippet from the tutorial,
Quote:There is another method used to backup Xbox 360 games by hotswapping discs with a normal PC DVD-ROM drive. This method involves hotswapping a large (8 gb+) movie DVD with your Xbox 360 game. The reason this is done is because the Xbox 360 discs have a fake table of contents. So, hotswapping and finding the ?magic number? offset is the only way to read the real contents of discs. Hotswapping the discs means switching them without actually hitting the eject button on your drive. So, you will have to either use the emergency eject hole on your drive or open the drive up and make it external with the screws off so you can take off the lid.
Now I was just wondering if this was necessary, or if there is any way around this since I am only on a laptop and I can't really take apart my DVD drive.
If anyone would be kind enough to link me to a better tutorial on how to burn/backup my games I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. My laptop isn't my only computer but it's my only computer with a dual layer DVD burner unfortunately. I'll check out the Kreon drive. thanks.

So to confirm, there is absolutely no way to burn a game without 'hotswapping'??
You can burn games with pretty much any DVD DL burner. Sorry I kinda mis-read what you said. When you said "hot-swap", that is just for copying games, so that is why I said get a Kreon drive. But if you are just looking to burn DVD DL, you can pretty much use any DVD DL burner.
Ahh ok I see! So if I want to burn a downloaded game I will have no problems - but if I want to make a copy of a legitimate version of a game I have, I will have to hotswap or get a Kreon compatable burner. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)
