Can you connect a Sony PS3 controller to a PC and use it as a gamepad?

lol i dont think you even looked at any of those links, if you had you would have got your answer, though as you seem to be lazy, i will answer it for you, so you dont have to click on a link.
So the answer to your question, is yes they do........

marcusita is lying. The only controllers that work on the PC are DualShock2 controllers. That means Playstation 2. The only way to get them to work is to get a PS2-to-USB adapter.
PS3 controllers won't work on Microsoft systems because, obviously, the systems are competing against each other.
Obviously.
I'm being totally srs. No joke. At all.

I think he was f**king with the thread creator that refuses to check the link posted for him. Even if a person thought that only PS2 controlers would work, he would still know that the PS2 had controllers other than the dualshock.

Very true, now that I look at it. Indeed, it was RDMoney who asked the latter of the two easily-searchable questions, and NOT the original thread creator.
That said, I still think it would've been easier (as well as entertaining and more educational) to give the guy a hard time than to spoon-feed him. Or her, I dunno.

Using the dual shock 3 is actually quite a pain, you have remap the controls specific to individual game. I used to play Left4Dead and it was bearable. After using it for while though, I decided to get a 360 controller to save myself the trouble. It has been working great. (not to start a flame, just my 2 cents).
