i have 2 red lights coming on my box.the fan goes off after about 5 seconds.i have fixed the 3 red lights,but this one is different.any ideas on how to fix it. jhaye2x

I believe 2 red lights is over heating. Check to make sure both heat sinks are seated properly.

I had one that gave me the 2 red lights too. It was because I had left off the fan shroud and it got hot. I didn't let it go for long and when I reinstalled the shroud and whala! Back to running just fine.

i have checked the heat sinks.i have just cleaned them ,put on new paste,did not overtight them and it is still the same.what i cannot figure out is why is the fan cutting out after about 5 seconds.have tried the shroud ,no joy jhaye2x

Fan shuts off because it is overheating and powering down. I would check the Heat sink install and thermal compound again.
Did you make sure to clean off the CPU and GPU to a mirror finish? How much paste did you apply and what kind?
When I did mine I ended up using a toothpick to get most of the crap off the CPU and GPU and then cleaned them up with some alcohol and a Q-Tip. I only applied Arctic Silver 5 in the amount of about rice grain and used a thin piece of cardboard to spread it evenly. Too much is the same as not enough. (I'm not questioning your competence only showing my process when I had 2 red lights.)Are all points on the X-Clamp securely locked in their proper positions?
I also installed the newer heat sink with the heat pipe and extra sink off the side. Runs like a charm.....For now.

cheers for getting back.i cleaned the cpu's they where actually like a mirror. i am using the paste (white) supplied by securityfixings .com. i have already done a couple with the 3 red lights and with success,imagine i cant even fix my own son's and i fixed everybody elses. where would i get that heat sink that you bought. cheers jhaye2x
