I bought two new benq drive to replace hitachi drives in two 360s. I installed and spoof the first one - no prob. I installed the second and spoofed it and well, I got a few problems here are the symptoms:
-Drive tries to open when eject button is pressed but seems as though it is stuck.
-After I give the drive a little help opening it wont stay open (it'll close automatically after 2-5 sec) and on the screen the xbox just says "opening drive". I've determined that this is because there is a arm (white plastic piece in below image) that isn't moving completely over to the left.
-When I move the "arm" completely over to the left, then the drive stays open and then the xbox says "close tray" or "insert disc" or whatever.
-When I put a disc in, it will sometimes only partially close and then I have to push it all the way closed (about 2mm or so, not much).
-When I do manage to get the drive open and pop a disc in, the game plays flawlessly.
The above picture is just an example of a samsung's drive.
I'm trying to send the drive back but the people i ordered it from are from hong kong and it'll take like 2 months plus i might have to pay for more S/H!!!
I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before... I imagine a lot of people have had this problem but with other kinds of drives, like PC drives that are easier to come by, so they just tossed the drive.
I had a BenQ that had ejecting problems. What I had read was the rubber belt is causing the issue. So the solution was to take a cup of water and microwave it til it was hot, then put the rubber belt in the water for 10 minutes or so. Take it out and dry it off and put it back on. It solved my issue of the drive not wanting to eject. You might give it a try.

Thanks for the reply, I heard of what you are talking about, but i don't think my rubber band is the problem. Was it a newer drive?
I feel like the white-plastic arm is having problems moving, to get the drive open, and once the tray is out, it's having problems getting in the proper "open" position fully. But i don't know how to fix this.
I finally tried the rubber band in water trick that was suggested above and no luck... I wonder if there is a way I can mod the drive, like put a handle on the tray in order to assist the drive to open...
