HI, I'm currently having trouble writing an image to a Memorex DVD+R DL (I know... cheap media). Along time ago I was able to do it, but I notice the old disc were 2.4x DVD+R DL, this new one are 8x DVD+R DL. I'm not sure if there is a difference. I update my firmware for the drive which is HP 640c, updated to version QS12, I think it's the latest one... I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance.
By the way, I'm using ImgBurn, here is what the logs says:

It looks like a compatibility issue as the drive is only offering a 2.4X write speed option for 8X media. The older 2.4X rated discs almost certainly use a different dye, which is why you're having issues. That burner is kinda old, as is the latest firmware for it. Those discs are crap too. Just spend the extra on Verbatims, cos it's worth it. You might want to consider getting a new burner too, as you may end up with the same problem with Verbs.
