My friend has attempted to flash his lite on drive and it seems its all gone tits-up. He was able to extract firmware, erase drive but it keeps stalling on 'flashing bank 1...' then the PC crashes.
Now before I even start messing with his drive, i am going to spoof a hitachi with benq firmware to confirm he has extracted the key correctly.
Can someone just comfirm that i just need to lead the original lite on as the source, load the 1.51 iextreme as target and just click spoof and it will give me the option to write?
Also, do I get the hitachi in mode B with SLAX like I would normally? (I always seem to have problems getting in to mode b with jungle flasher)

I wouldn't replace the Lite-ON with a Hitachi.
Tell your friend to boot to DosFlash on a USB drive and try to write the firmware that way. If it doesn't work, I'd say the SATA chipset is causing the problem and will need to use a SATA chipset that is compatible.

Thanks for the reply Leerage, Im not going to replace the lite-on with a hitachi, its only to test that the firmware has been extracted correctly. I have the drive now so Im going to try and fix it over the next few hours
I don't think its the chipset as is a Via 6421a that he bought specifically for flashing. He has also passed it to another friend who does xbox flashing and he gets the same issue. Ill try DOSflash on a usb pen, wish me luck as I have never done a lite-on before.

The Lite-ONs are like BenQs and can be recovered from a bad flash, so it just an issue when the program tried to write the firmware. If he didn't get back good flash chip properties, that might be an issue too.
Spoofing a Hitachi drive in Jungle Flasher is a weird process. You must tick the box that says Flash Key Sector and then load the key.bin. Then you have to do the same for the inquiry and identify.
Good luck though, let me know if you need any help.
