YouTube testing out 3D videos

article published on 25 July, 2009

According to CNet, YouTube is working on bringing 3D videos to the popular video sharing site, and a Google employee has been quietly working on the project. In the YouTube forums, "YouTubePete" has said he has been working on the stereoscopic player "during his '20 percent time' at Google." The video, which can be viewed lower in the post, gives watchers the option to change to many ... [ read the full article ]

I liked the spammer.. far more interesting than this 3d nonsense.. just a shame the spam was trying to sell counterfeit meds.. instead of being an article about the hushed up scandal of birth defects caused by pesticides in the environment... oooo.. youtube=brain rot .. was it caused by anti-depressants or pesticides (personally I would try pesticides on it and if they have no effect then give anti-depressants to the miserable people who waste their lives sending me n00btube links I will never look at hahahahaha

A learning experience is one of those things that say, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that."

Nevermind the glasses.
3D = fail.

They've been trying to push this for almost 60yrs.
No-one is that interested and it's my view that it's for the usual and very predictable reasons.
3D is used as a 'feature' in itself.
To make any use of it you have to try and contrive a few bolted on 'wow' moments.

Like as if anything beyond the novelty value is going to be found in that.

Quality cinema is all in the writing, acting and direction.

Junk worthless childish brain-rotting cinema is all about 'effects' and little else.
That's just too shallow and in itself nothing like enough to sustain interest.

Hence why 3D has always been a fad that doesn't last.

hologrphic 3D sounds good but anything less than real 3D depth is pointless.

And you are so right its junk that why it keeps rising from the grave. >>

Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

Obviously most of you have not even tried a IMAX 3D movie lately. Try the IMAX U2 concert in 3D or the underwater creatures in 3D. Absolutly amaing what they have done with 3D

contrary ? Give me a break ... most here are arrogant, holier than thou want to be GEEKs that can not and do not, have their own URL's, or own domain names to gripe and moan about anything and everything. You have to have these "wanna be" boards to get a hard on. Sitting home alone you do not even have a clue as to what technology is really about ... which is the possibilities! If you can not dream or see outside your own myopic vision of what is possible .... P@ss off! I am sorry that you are possibly near sighted, far sighted, short sighted and have never even seen the U2 IMAX 3D! If you have seen it and were not impressed you obviously are a frustated teen wanna be, an unemployed geek, or a Star Wars fan that wants a "wet dream" associated with any tech break through! Blah, BLah, Blah ... sorry that you do not agree .... blah, blah, blah ... so just kiss my entire @ss! Sit at home alone and dream ... as it obviously will be your only touch with reality! If you have seen the U2 vid and not impressed with the possibilities you are partially blind, totally neurotic and myopic or just an online .... wanna be @ss! You tell tell us all the problems ... ohhh wonder bOy! LOL!

Spoken like a real modern consumer zombie...
The effect is cute but still the bastard child of red and blue 3D from the 50s. It might be existing the first time you see it but after that its nothing but visual noise, like transformers 2.

I was actually asking Zippy! I've enjoyed many different 3D experiences at theatres and amusement parks.

The only real difference between this and red/blue/black/white is its alil more defined and in color but stil very much blue/red which dose not compute with me, IE it looks fake and dose not past my suspension of disbelief min requirements. Yes I know I am a pain in the ass, but I would rather have better story/acting/gameplay than more "pretty"........

The 3D currently being used blanks out certain light frequencies. You must have a defect in your eye(s) or brain that does not allow viewing one set of these frequencies in everyday life, that would make it so no matter how you view, you only see one picture. However, that would also make one eye go crazy with the glasses on because your eye wouldn't be able to process what it was seeing.

@Zippy - Seriously, is it not enough to just state your opinion? Do you really have to tear down people that don't agree with you? I've enjoyed a couple 3D films, but never saw them as innovation at all. It's old tech that's been used for awhile. None the less if someone really enjoys them, why would that make them a "zombie"? Do you have to go against the grain in order to be "cool"? I bet you're one of those guys that rips on mainstream music and then talks about how cool "The Pixies" are. Ok, we get it, you're different. Remember this though, you going against the grain on a net board doesn't make everyone reading think your cool. And in case you were wondering, people telling you you're not cool on said board, also doesn't make you cool.

Yes because time and time again I see the majority of consumers not give a rip about quality or substance. Giving the worst kinda of games and and films praise via their money.

So the majority are zombies it dose not make me less of a black paint wearing wooless sheeple :P

It boils down to the fact that people will spend their money on whatever they perceive as valuable. If they perceive something as valuable and you don't, that doesn't make them consumption zombies, it makes them have a different opinion of what is worth money than you. To judge their perception on what is determined valuable can easily be flipped back at you.

You also are misleading in the way you are using the term quality. You are using quality as if to mean something that can be measured ie(defects), but you actually mean to use quality to mean a high matching of your personal taste. It would be very easy for someone to say a movie like "Momento" was of low quality because it lacked explosions, but "Transformers" was the best movie ever. It would also be very difficult for you to show hard fixable defects in a film like Transformers as to improve the supposed quality.

Per your implication, substance and quality are deemed by your personal taste.

It actually makes more logical sense to flip it around. If most people perceive a game or movie as quality enough for their money, then it has the highest probably of being a good product. If the vast majority of occurrences result in you going against the grain, then the problem isn't a vast zombie nation. It would make more sense to just say you have bad taste. No insult intended.

It's like crazy people, I once met a guy who said he was a hidden member of the Beatles, and the first man to walk on the moon in 1945. He looked about 25ish. Yeah he was schizo. It's easier to believe that the rest of the planet is sane and he is crazy rather than believing he is sane, and the rest of us are crazy. This is the rule, but of course their are exceptions. The world is flat, the Sun circles the Earth, cigarettes are good for you; these are good examples of exceptions. Transformers is a good quality film, probably the rule.

So? One has to be harsh hen dealing with zombies, they eat brains you know?

Humor aside consumerism mandates consumption over anything else, and what are we as a modern society a consumer driven society and one that is driven on one mandate and one rule (or ring if you will..so much for "humor aside"....) and that is of lowest common denominator Made from 9 rings,
1.I don't care about anything it looks pretty,
2.I have more money than brains,
3.research bah! It will work fine, quality bah!
4.I can take it back...
5.If it breaks I will buy another one.
6.Look they made a new version with more a stuff lets buy it!
7.Look I can buy extra online who cares if the original product was not complete.
8.I am paying for something that should be free lucky me!!
9.You can't change it its how it is so just buy stuff and forget about it!

Which breaks down to arrogance, ignorance, self delusion and stupidity it may be indirect were as the black sheep those forced out of the main stream seem to use "arrogance, ignorance, self delusion and stupidity" directly.

my point is we are all part of the problem some of try and effect change and are called fools and outcasts while the rest gleefully buy into the system of decay and oxymoronic introverted decadence that damns anything but the rule of lowest common denominator.

Then again humans devideding by zero is not that difficult thing to. do. My point humans doing stupid things to prevent more natural stupid things from happening is well.... human...just as human as just consuming stuff for the lulz. But don't blame the outcasts or business for worsening media as the masses have demanded it it so shall be done....

zippy rant filled with enough zippy speak to even give me a headache =0-o=
