I'm getting an error when booting Wii sports resort (NTSC) from a backup disc on a US system with 3.4 firmware.

error something like
"Error #002
An error has occurred.
Presse the Eject Button, remove the
Game disc, and turn off the power to
the console.
Please read the Wii operations manual
for further instructions"
"

Anybody else get this or am I missing something? I was thinking I should upgrade. I have homebrew channel installed, so I should be good to go if i upgrade via nintendo's servers right?

much obliged for your assistance. This community is really impressive and I appreciate everyone for contributing.

Do you use a Modchip or Softmod?

Sorry to hijack, but I'm having the exact same problem with 4.0 and a wiikey'd wii.

It was a compressed ISO (600 megs or so), I don't know if that info is usefull.

It might be the same error but to get rid of the error might mean different steps that both have to take to get the job done. So it isn't fare for the OP to have to wade through other post to find the post directed to them instead of someone else.

Got it working. Maybe this will help your problem too. All I did was put the .dol (which came with the torrent), and put it on the sd card. I also ran the game through the normal channel (but then again I have a wiikey).

Sorry, I won't hijack again, hope it helped.

There are a few Wii Sports threads out there that tell you what you need to do. I would suggest looking through the threads in the Wii section and find 1 of the multiple threads and follow it.

i have plenty of other backups and they all work fine. this is the only backup i have made that doesn't work. Any way to tell if it's a bad ISO?

I could't get mine to work either (the only one). The way I fixed it is that my kid has a friend that has a retail copy of it. I had him bring it over, poped it in, watched the motion+ video, let it create a save file, took it out, put in my backup copy and it works flawlessly now.

Maybe try to rent it, it makes it much easier. I bet I'm gonna have to do this with alot of the new titles. It's just way easier for me then to mess with all that .dol stuff, LOL.

yeah, download another .iso from a different source and see if you have the same problem. Then you'll know (99.9%) if the current iso you have now is bad or not if the new one works. On top of that, as mentioned above, gettign through the first motion plus intro video is a known problem when trying to play Wii sports Resort solely from a backup. This can be overcome by running the game with an alternate .dol file that can be obtained from the .iso using Wii scrubber. Research it in the forums here as there are several threads about this already.

But in all honestly, it's time to upgrade your wii to 4.1u. There is no risk in doing so now. Also you should be using cIOS38_rev14. With that combination you can play any and all games in conjunction with USB Loader GX or NeoGamma R6/R7.

At one point in time it was unwise to upgrade your WII because it could stop your backups from working, but that is not the case now. Now, you get less support and options by continuing to stay on 3.2 firmware. By upgrading to 4.1u you get the ability to play all new games without needing to worry about discs wanting to update (even though softmodding will prevent that anyway) and you gain the ability to use SDHC cards up to 32GB. PLUS, you can play download content games and channels directly from your SD card which is completely awesome.

If you choose to stay outdated, and find yourself not being able to play games, then the first assumption to your problem is probably that you need to bite the bullet and get updated first.
