Hey I want to give lightscribe discs a try. I have a 16x multi-format/dual-layer LightScribe DVD drive. So I think I should get some. Is that a good idea. Do they work and print nicely for Wii?

I'm looking at these:
Newegg.com - Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD-R LightScribe 25 Packs Cake Box Disc - CD / DVD Media
and these:
Newegg.com - Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD-R LightScribe 1.2 30 Packs Cake Box Disc - CD / DVD Media

Should I get color ones or black and white ones? What applications do you guys use to lightscribe them?

If you read around you will find Media is a big topic. I personally only have used Sony DVD+R with success and haven?t tried anything else. They always work for my DVD?s and since their around I use them for my Wii. If no one responds to this with they did/did not work for me type answer I?m sure many of use would love to hear how it went. So by a small pack and give it a shot. Be aware though I have hear that some have had a brand work for years then the next batch they bought fails. Or suddenly they just stop reading properly in the Wii.

You can't go wrong with those Verbatim lightscribe discs, best bang for your buck. I wasted ALOT of money on other brands before going with Verbatim. I use these Verbatim lightscribe discs with a HP dvd1040e drive. So far no coasters, after 100+ burns.

I used other lightscribe brands, but they were hit or missed. At first, I thought I was doing something wrong; the files were corrupted or the add-on hardware *cough* wasn't working. All of the problems with playing backups disappeared with the Verbatim DVD-R discs. Recently had to upgrade to firmware 4.0 in order to play the newer games, and the backups still work.

Although the standard gold color discs work as well as the color ones, I prefer the Verbatim Color LightScribe DVD-R. The lightscribe print quality with the color background is definitely better and the labels look significantly sharper. Its worth the extra cost. The downside is that it takes about 30 minutes to burn the lightscribe labels, but it's not really a big deal, since you can leave it running in the background and do something else..
