ok well here is what i got i got the burner as the master and i got the the sh-d162d on secondary both ide. Take over an hour to rip speed says 1x and when i burn takes about 25 to 30 min. switched the kreon ( has 1.0 firmware by the way)drive to master and burner to to secondary now it ripped in about 30 min but burned at almost two hours. is there a way to make them both work fast? i only have one ide connection on my mother board. i have an extra sata connection on it would it be better to get the sata drive which i think is the sh-d163a so they wont be on the same IDE cable. I also have a ide connection on the sata pci card that i use to flash the 360 and have them both on seperate cables?
any suggestions would help?
thanks in advance for the response greatly appreciated.
what program are you using to rip with kreon drive? I use schtrom v4 and it rips in about 20 mins, when i burn i use clonecd and burn at 2.4 and it takes round about 45mins!!

I've read that sh-d163b's (same as sh-d162d but with sata connections) does not work with via 6421 pci cards... anyway it'd probably take even longer connected via pci. You could always try an ide to sata connector, but that might be just as slow. It's probably not worth spending $40 on a sh-d163b for the sake of 15 minutes.
had this issue when i was using XP. switched over to vista and it got my ripping times back down to 10 minutes or so.
i would keep the kreon drive and get a sata burner, this would be cheaper and better. a good sata burner is only around 25 bucks and a sata kreon drive will run you around 50.

Ripping: With XP 10 minutes on a very old computer (single core cpu, 1GB ram). Burning: About 20 minutes with clonecd without any coasters due to speed reasons.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
thank you all for the response im using xbc to rip and imgburn to burn. yeah i have hear the same thing about the sh-d163b but i was going to put it on a on board sata if that makes a difference yeah i dont really want to switch to vista i like xp and i dont think that would be the problem i mean could be a solution but i think i would stay with xp. Again thanks everyone for the suggestions really do appreciate it im amazed of how many responses i got in a day when i posted the same problem at 360mods.com i think or 360iso.com dont remember but i check after two or three days and nothing so thanks you guys so much. for the help and for future help oh by the way still accepting any suggestions.
thanks
I am sure you already checked the jumpers and made sure they are right. Did you check in device manager and make sure both drives are set to dma mode, and not pio mode?
yes i think i have them right i even switch the jumpers and then it ripped quick but took almost 2hr to burn so i know the drives are working fine so the only thing i could think of is have them on separate cables but i only have one ide on my board. so thats the reason i was thinking to switch to sata cause i got two on my board one is being used by my hard drive.
thanks
