After my previous problems with burning DVDs (I burned 8/9 and only had 2 successes) I decide to order some purple Ritek disks, which arrived last night, as opposed to the Datawrite reds I was using before. I have only tried one so far and whilst that failed during validation the disk seems to play fine in both my PC and HI-Fi (Plays DVDs). I hope this will solve my burning problem, we shall see when I get home today.

I was told by a friend that I should always validate my disks, but since it failed and there still seems to be no problem, is it worth bothering in the future? What is Validation about anyway?
