Can you swap DVD drives?

I want to know if I can take my flashed DVD drive and put inside of a 360 that came with another brand of DVD drive.

Each XBOX 360 has a unique DVD key. So taking a DVD drive from one XBOX 360 and putting in another XBOX 360 won't work right away. You will need to dump the firmware one both drives so you have the DVDkey for both XBOX 360s. Then you will need to flash the DVDkey of the new XBOX 360 that you want to put the drive in.

If you are buying a brand new 360, it will come with a Lite-ON drive and you can go ahead just flash that.

If you buy a second XBOX 360, just flash the drive it has.

I don't exactly have the same setup that I had when I flashed my first one and for some reason it will not stop freezing. I tried applying and reapplying the x-clamp fix over and over as well as the ram fix.

Even with those the most I can play my 360 without it freezing up is about 4 or 5 hours then the screen will freeze and the controller will start vibrating endlessly. Then I do the overheat trick on it and it goes for about 4 or 5 more hours. The red ring never comes up when it happens though.

Sounds like it is overheating, I would put a talismoon whisper max in it... they're a lot cheaper than a new xbox.
