I bought a TV which has a built-in DVB Tuner. Many TVs come with these nowadays. My question is ...How do I use the DVB tuner ? Currently I have a Eurovox-T and watch everything thru that, but can I put up and aerial/dish/whatever and also make use of the built in tuner ? Incidentally, my HDD DVDr also has a builtin tuner...it seems like I have more and more DVB-T tuners but not using them....any suggestions ?

It depends which lcd you got and what you want.
For instance the irish dtt test is using mpeg4 and you need a receiving device with an mpeg4 decoder on board to the get the irish channels via dvb-t.

I Have a Samsung 50" which supports mpeg4. I have a Eurovox at the moment so I watch everything thru scart. However, I guess I'm looking for other options if Ch*&us goes belly up. Is there an aerial/dish I can get which will use the DVB tuner as opposed to say, buying a FTA STB.

If you connect your samsung to a uhf aerial and you have a main transmitter nearby you could get the irish dtt test with the 4 irish channels. Its only a test and the channels are sometimes working and sometimes not. The official rollout for irish dtt is expected in spring 2010.
If you want the basic uk channels for free you should think about satellite and a uk freesat box. Don't mix it up with freeview.

I think that maybe the OP was looking at getting rid of the box and just using the TV. This can be done via the CAM slot and a funcard. I have some experience of this but can't talk about it here I'm afraid. Seems that we can talk about Starview, Kryptview etc but the mention of CAMs seems to scare people. If you like me are in Eire then you are stuck for the mo tho. There are no new scripts to deal with the new encryption. I have probably said too much already :P

That's all well and good m8. I asked a question here 6 months ago about CAMs and I was told in no uncertain terms that I would be banned if I asked anything else regarding same. Got all the info I needed from an admin of another site in a day.
If it is ok to speak about KV & SV firmware surely we could discuss CAMs? I wrote a tutorial recently and would be willing to post it up but only it I yet the nod that it's ok

I remember your posts from a while back and enjoyed them. The problem is mentioning nagra keysets. The post I linked you to was borderline, yes there is always another forum, we know that been members of others.

But each one sets their own rules ;) If you pm your tut to a mod they could look it over and see if it can be posted in its entirety.

That's fair enuf m8.
I'm pretty sure that if I am permitted to post it, it will need some editing as it does go through programming funcards. In saying that, there is no mention of keysets as like the KV, the cards auto update.
I use this forum now and again but it think it's a real shame that it is now primaraly used by leechers who contribute nothing and the new posts just seem to be "can someone fix my SV?". You were a great help to me when I first started m8 but I didn't have much to contribute at the time. I have learned alot since then and feel that I would now be in a position to help the community.
I'll PM one of the mods later and see what happens. Thatnks agin m8

There are three different formats of DVB Tuner, DVB-T is already mentioned in this thread and there are two formats of this system, MPEG2 also known as Freeview and MPEG4 (The Irish DTT Trial.)

If your TV is MPEG2 then it is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard if you live anywhere in Ireland (other than the border regions)

If however you have MPEG4 then as mentioned already you can get the 4 test channels from the Irish DTT trials.

If your TV has a DVB-C tuner then you can receive all the channels currently broadcast from your cable supplier and use your TVs built in EPG however most of the channels will be encrypted.

I am pretty sure that that set is dvb-t and dvb-c. The best thing to do is hook it up directly to your cane and scan. If you come up with 100+ then it's safe to say you have dvb-c. I haven't been able to get to my pc to get my tut with explains all of this in more detail. Anyone got an idea of the best admin to pm?

gregmis own an working eurovox-t and that means he get ch*rus mmds. I don't think he want to shell out 200 euros for replacing the eurovox-t.

My Bravia finds all the channels that are available via UPC, obviously I cant open the encrypted ch's but the picture is superb on the non-encrypted ch's.

With the mini-cam slot on the side of my tv it makes me think what the likes of Duolabs could do if they were to get involved in this size cam....

Anyway we live in hope lol

I use a Sony Bravia and that is the unit I wrote about in my tutorial. What do you mean by mini cam? CAM size is universal and the diablo should be fine for you. In fact, I believe that there is a fix to get the diablo working on nag2 so it's prob a good road to go down. I have to admit, I am not up on diablos but they have some great reviews.
I'll get to my PC tomorrow and send the tut to one of the mods. Fingers crossed it gets approved. The thread seems to be generating some interest.

Sc0user posted a link in reply #5 of this thread that will give you all the info.

Muzzles, I'd be interested in reading your tutorial, any chance you could PM it to me?

No problem mate.
To be honest, I didn't want to start getting into "PM sent" messges all over the place as this happened on here recently and alot of people got pissed off with it. I'll send it to ya tomorrow. If ya can't wait till then, I posted it up on another forum complete with all files needed. I can't mention the name but if you google n1zzle (my other username) and Bravia, it's the first result.

If you are connected to exN*l there are only N2 and N3 left over.
You would need a diablo light cam and a cas3+ for programming the cam for around 150 euros. The lifetime for N2 is limited at exN*l networks. If they switch off N2 the game is over.

Agree with everything mgb17 says, it's only a matter of time, if however you already own a diablo and cas3+ and you are using them for satellite television educational purposes only then who am I to limit your education.

Has anyone managed to get a diablo lite working on Ch0r#s mmds ?
I've tried using underworld 180, edited the key file to up to date keysets, added provider id to provider list and still no joy, nothing clears.
I'm trying it on a samsung lcd with dvb-t tuner, the tele tunes in all the channels, just doesnt clear them through the cam.

Has anyone got a working back up that they'd care to share ??
