I'm using 0.1.64b of Jungleflasher. The Benq drive has 1.5 iXtreme. I'm trying to update it to 1.6 iXtreme. I have tried this with the drive closed and the drive half open.
So, I have a VIA card (the VT6421A but it shows up as VIA RAID Controller - 3249 in Jungleflasher, is this okay?) and I have the Benq with the power molex in the 360 base and the SATA going from the drive to the VIA card. Jungleflasher recognizes the drive, saying "PBDS" and "VAD6038-64930C". I go to MTK Flash 32, hit "Intro/Device ID" and it works, putting it in vendor mode. However, it seems right after it finishes, the computer hangs for a moment and loses the DVD drive. If I hit read, I get an error. If I hit read before the computer hangs, it forever hangs on "Reading Bank 1 ......."
I need to re-read it to get the key because I've reformatted since then. I've tried the card and setup in DOS with a boot CD in another computer (this computer has trouble booting to CDs/USB) but it won't erase it. That same machine, when in Windows, won't recognize there's a drive.
1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager.
2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and remove "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys".
3. Re-enable VIA card in Device Manager.
4. Re-Boot PC.
