Hello, I'm new to this forum and I wanted to post my problems here since it seems you guys seem to have a vast amount of knowledge.

Problem: Getting "An error has occurred. Please press the eject button and remove the disk. Turn the wii console off and refer to the manual" after burning a DvD

Details: Alright, so I have these DVD's with games in them ie: ExciteBots and when i boot them on my wii i get error 001. To solve this i put the disc in my computer and use Magic Iso to extract the ISO file. Then I use Trucha Signer and extract Main.dol and use Generic wii Patcher to get rid of the error 001 and replace the main.dol in trucha and sign both partitions. Then I use IMGburn/Nero to burn the DVD at 4x. When done i pop them into my wii and get the message above.

Can anyone identify and give a solution to what's wrong because i know it's not my wii being dusty since other games work on it. The message has a black screen backround. I'm using wiikey not sure which though but it can't support DL.

Thank you very much, I am awaiting your responses as I have already wasted quite alot of discs. I use DVD-R Verbatim 16X 4.7 GiG

From now on, please search the forums before you post. This has been covered before. However, I've got time so here are some tips:

You usually get that error when the disc can't be read. This could be becuase of dust (try the old blow in the Nintendo trick). Or it could be because the disc is of bad quality, dirty, or scratched. Or it could be that you had a bad burn (make sure you burn at 2.4x or 4x speeds only). Or, it could be that the .iso you burned was bad to begin with. If you got it from a torrent or something the uploader may have copied it too fast or it could have gotten corrupted during the Par/Zip process.

And be sure to only use DVD-R discs. Don't use any DVD +\- RW's or +R's. Disc quality can be very important... if using some cheap-o brand you may have some lemons in the bunch that will spoil your burn even if you have a good .iso image and take the time to burn it correctly. Some people have reported NERO causing problems, but most user that use the freeware IMAGEBurn have reported success when they stick to good media and slow burns.

I've had this happen to me on my No More Heroes disc. I simply ejected the game, blew some air in the Wii, rubbed the disc with a soft cloth and inserted back in and it started playing where it left off.

You may not be as luck though. Try reburning the disc with a high quality DVD-R at 2.4x speed and try again. If the problem persists, try finding a new .iso image from a different source.

It's not because of dust since my other games can work just not the one i burn. I did not download this I extracted the iso through a working game well Dvd burnt game. It's not bad since the backup or burnt game works just has error 001. The discs are Verbatim they are very good. DvD-R ARE used. Both IMGburn and Nero doesn't fix my problem. I tried at 1X and 2X and 4X does not work not sure about 2.4X. Ill try. Any other suggestions?

Note: Was it a good idea to use MagicIso to extract the iso or should I "dump" it or whatnot? Because I used MagicIso to extract the iso from the backup discs.

Error 001 is not what you said before, that is different than simply "an error has occured. please press the eject button". Well, I guess you did say it, but later in your post... hidden. Error 001 is unauthorized device has been detected. So you have a wiikey or something? make sure your wiikey or whatever has the latest firmware installed. If you're using a Wi-IC you are screwed according to Wikipedia:

The Wi-ic is capable of Wii and GameCube backup play, supports multi-disc games, GameCube import play with swapping, GameCube homebrew play. Wii import and homebrew play is unconfirmed.
It has 5 wires that can be installed with a quick solder or gold-plated solder pads. Contains a failsafe update mechanism allowing it to recover from a failed update using the Disc Channel or Photo Channel which requires an extra wire to be soldered. An extra wire on the chip allows for a disabling of the chip to be used.

It is also a DVD-upgradeable chip however currently there's only one upgrade program has been released. From the ERROR-001 problem appeared when Super Mario Galaxy was released, the Wi-ic group disappeared unexpectedly and both its Chinese and English forum was closed after many users asked them to release a new upgrade to fix the error. (i.e. a chip without any support now.) Although a PC program called Trucha can fix the error by editing the .iso file of the game, but the latest 3.3 version firmwire for Wii could detect this change so that the copy of ERROR-001 games (Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, etc.) won't work anymore. Therefore, Wi-ic has become a useless chip for new games.

Second, you're still using someone elses burned image so maybe that disc was scratched or something or simply you got a bad burn off of it. Don't assume that any already pirated copy is going to work.

What firmware is your wii? Upgrade to 4.1 and install the latest cIOS38_rev14 if you haven't done so already. Also be sure to run IOSDowngrader to enable Trucha Signed Exploit directly from your Wii which will keep you from having to try and do this with your computer and copy .iso's back and forth. That just leaves you more room to corrupt the iso from copying it, signing it, and recopying it again.

No idea what my firmware is, No idea how to upgrade gonna check up on that yes i have wiikey. I got error 001 before then burning a disc gave me the error please eject.the pirated copy is new not scratched works on my wii besides error 001 so i extracted from it. Uhh installing cos or something and ISOdowngrader umm...what? I just have wiikey and no idea what firmware it is. They say getting wiikey2 gets rid of unauthorized but im pretty sure i don't need it.

The last paragraph of your post completely confused me...badly. Maybe i did get a bad burn. I'm just wondering if I could get a error free disc using a disc with the wii game in it. Pretty sure I can. Anyway i guess i could try upgrading to 4.1 but ISOdowngrader i do NOT have.

Got anything else or suggestions i should try? Thanks alot if this works i shall be a happy man XD

WIIKEY firmware update can be found HERE. Once you take care of that you should be good to go.

Disregard my last paragraph. You actually don't want to softmod your wii while you have your Wiikey installed.

However, if you ever do find that your wiikey is not working correctly, or you would rather play games from a USB hard drive instead of lame old discs, you can always remove it and softmod your wii with this simple tutorial HERE

Okay, I'll update my firmware but I don't know if I'll be good to go as to playing my burnt discs. Here we go O.o

EDIT: I burned the firmware update onto a dvd using 4x speed on IMGburn and Verbatim 16x 4.7 gig dvd's. The update size was 38.6MB. I put it into my wii and i got " An error has occurred. Please eject disc etc". I can now confirm that the problem is the burning process. Either it's my burner ( But it still burns disc normally?) or the process of the burning. Though when i put in a dvd in my computer i get Freespace: 0 bytes and total space 0 bytes when you click it on my Computer. Is this a problem? Any advice? Oh my wii system firmware is 3.2U if it helps.

Thank you
