After all the talk I've heard about how great it is to own a flashed 360 I decided to try it out myself.

I've searched around and got myself familiar with a lot of the basics but I need some help before I can get down to the actual mod itself.

I took apart my 360 and I have a HL Model GDR-3120L and the firmware is the dreaded 0079FL.

I read in a guide that Silicon Image (mines the Sil3132) do not work for flashing HL drive with 79L firmware. I also have a ICH7 chip-set. My motherboard is an Abit AW9D-MAX. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit release 7323.

Can anyone provide me some some helpful updated links to some information or software I'd need for this? Also if someone could suggest a SATA controller card that would work well for modding this particular drive. I also read in some old posts the 79L required a chip to be soldered on in order for the drive to be placed into mode b, is this still required?

Jungle Flasher would be a great option for the 79 unfortunately 64Bit OS isn't supported by PortIO. You can still use JF though. Use slax to put the drive in Mode B and then JF will detect the 79. You will also need to burn the 79 unlock CD. Once in Mode B, insert the 79 unlock CD and press Unlock in Jungle Flasher. Dump the firmware and flash iXtreme and your done.
