Hi guys,
I have a weird error with a 360.
The unit has never been flashed or tampered with (Until now trying to fix it). The unit just didnt work about a week ago when i turned it on. The 360 comes on, i get the intro sound and a partial graphic (2-3 seconds) and then nothing. If i press the X on the controller, it connects. If i put a game in the drive, the drive spins. I have no red lights at all but no sound and no video.
I took the unit apart to check for physical damage and could see none. I removed the heatsinks and reapplied thermal paste, nothing. I have another 360 and used the HDD from that and, you guessed it, nothing!
What am i missing here? Any advice would really be appreciated!
Thanks, Muz

Sounds obvious, and I am sort of grabbing at straws here, but have you tried a different cable? If it is a certain type of cable that isn't working, for instance the component cable, have you tried using HDMI?
Completely guessing, but I am thinking that it could be either a crappy cable (probably not, if it works and then stops, but who knows), physical damage to one or more your output ports on the 360, or maybe even a GPU issue? Also, you need to try it on a different TV to make sure it's not an issue with your TV.
As long as we are just taking shots in the dark, you might as well try the Xclamp fix, I guess. If it is an issue with the GPU overheating/etc, then the new Xclamp will fix it. If it's an issue with a physically damaged connection inside the Xbox, then part #2 of the Xclamp fix, where you heat it up, could fix it.
Like I said, I am just brainstorming here. Somebody who knows more than I do, feel free to step in.

Hi folks,
I should have posted more detail but it was late:)
This is a second xbox and I have 2 power bricks, 3 av cables and 2 tv's. So, I guess the only option is to induce the RROD by purposely overheating and replacing the xclamps with bolts?
Thanks for the help so far folks, I really appreciate it!

and why would you want to do this? You can't send it in that way as it would be rejected. Most likely a reflow is your only hope.

since you didnt say antyhing about the warranty being up, you could buy a new warranty sticker off of ebay, induce RROD, and send it back to MS. but, like wabashman said, that is if you didn't make the case look like it had obviously been opened.

Hi,
I'm facing the accept same problem, well......not the 0002 message.
Last couple of weeks the box started acting up. Strange graphics.....seemed a layer was missing (but only after playing like 10 minutes, so problems occured as soon as the box heated up), and now.....no screen at all anymore, but no RROD or an errormessage. (this box also was not modded)
With scart I'm seeing a few moving dots, connecting it to a HDTV results in "no signal" on my television.
Bought a new one to keep playing and kept the old one for tinkering around (since I already had no warrenty left and I like tinkering), but just wanted to know if the x-clamp fix and / or baking it would do the trick.
SO..please keep us posted :-)

xbox 360 no image
Seems like a similar problem, hopefully with a similar fix. Will order a fix kit, hopefully it will be here soon.
How is your xbox? still giving the 0002 error?

Seems I was doing something wrong. I put the xclamps back on and it's back to the original problem but the 0002 is gone. I suspect the washers I used were too wide so I have a handfull of smaller ones and I'll have another go later. Worst case scenario, I have a friend who is an ex repair guy for MS and he said he'll sort it for me. He's in the states at the mo so I'll have to wait a month or so. I'll keep going until then. I'm sure I can at least, find the cause.

Did you already succeed?
Did my x-clamp fix today and everything works again. Leaving it open for some time though, really want to be sure that everything keeps working.
if yours is not working yet, good luck

No joy on my side I'm afraid. Had a look under a microscope and one of the transistors or whatever they are under the GPU is damaged beyond repair. Only fit for the bin I think :(
Thanks for the help folks!
