Ok. I've been trying to flash both a Hitachi 79 and a Hitachi 46.

Both have been flashed with iXtreme 1.51 and they load up fine, but once I put a backup into it it wont read it. It attempts to and then it ends with an "Open Tray"

It still reads Original games and DVDs but wont play backups, can't even get the "Insert this disc into an XBOX360 console" thing.

Also, when I dump the firmware it comes up as iXtreme:1.51:v46S-12x

iXtreme 1.51 and above will not play non-stealthed games in order to protect people from getting banned. Sounds like this might be your issue.

Try running an ISO through ABGX360 on level 3 AutoFix and then burning it with ImgBurn and see if that works.

I've already thought of that. I've modded over 100 consoles and I've never had a problem with any of my games not playing.
I tried to play the game on another console with 1.6 and it worked.

Hmm... that's tricky, then.

It's possible that it could be a dirty lens, or some other laser issue. You could clean the lens with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, and see if that helps.

Your firmware looks legit.

Not sure what else it could be, I am stumped. Hopefully somebody smarter than me will be along shortly.

On second thought, I see the problem. You didn't flash the drive. Check your dump log. It says that the firmware is stock, and the drive key on your iXtreme is set to all 0000. What you were reading as the firmware type of the Hitachi was actually just the report of what the firmware type was in the "Target File".

Just try it again. Since you've done so many, I am sure you don't need directions and it was probably just a simple mistake.

Be careful with those Hitachis, though..

Still having the same issue. I've made sure that it is flashing with the correct key and the correct firmware. I've redownloaded the firmware from xbins.

I don't have access to Jungle Flasher right now, but it still looks like when it read your bin on your DVD this past time, it was still stock. Even after you thought you had flashed it. Also, when it reports flashing ixtreme onto the drive, it still says the key is all 00.

I don't know if this is normal or not, but the issue seems to be in there somewhere.

Did you do the 'spoof source to target' thing?

It usually does it on its own. Hrmm. I'm going to redownload jungleflasher, and manually do it. Nice. Hopefully I've just been ignorant and my program effed up.

Verbatim 2.4x

I am assuming it has something to do with my PC, I attempted to spoof a ms28 and it's doing the exact same thing as the hitachi[s] are.

Remember I am having this problem with 2 different Hitachis, which is why there are two different Keys.

Also, if the key didnt match it wouldn't even play originals. It's playing the originals just fine though.

When I read the key it tells me that iXtreme 1.51 is the fw.

I've attempted to mod these on my other PC and I'm still coming up with the same results. I'm beginning to believe these drives have super security or something.

I was able to flash an MS28 with no problem.

I've attempted to use Jungleflasher and FW Toolbox. Any other recommendations?

Also... never attempted to use dosflash. I'l give them a go.

I think iPrep MIGHT work on Hitachis if you get your drive into mode B manually by either playing the audio CD or using the Slax boot method. I think you have to unplug the SATA cable after you get it into mode B and then reboot it into iPrep/DosFlash or something. Sorry, don't quite remember fully. It's been a while.

I thought it was my PC but tried on another with the same problem.
tried to spoof to another drive and it still did the same thing. I'm guessing it's a coincidence and the lasers are bad on them.
