I've used a WD BEVS 120GB and was able to get it to work on my 360. A friend of mine wants me to do this for him. However, I know during the process I had to format the WD drive using my serial #. Is it possible to transfer his 20GB data to the 120GB without me having his 360? Or can I just set up the partitions on the 120 and have him use a 360 transfer cable? Basically, can I do this for him with me only having his harddrives? Thanks

Yes, the hard drive isn't locked to one console, otherwise you wouldn't be able to use offical 120gb hard drives.

So then when I format a HDD on a 360, why does it need that specific console's serial #? It's going to work on his 360, with Live no problem, even if I format it on my 360 w/ my serial # first?

The serial number you spoof the wd hard drive is to make it look like an offical one, it's not locked to one console... otherwise nobody would be selling them on ebay.

Gotcha. Well I had wondered why you had to input your own console's serial # when formatting the drive on the 360. Format the spoofed 120 on my 360, transfer my friend's 20gb data over, then figured when the drive is used on his 360 it'd have a problem when on Live due to my serial # or something

I think the formatting thing is only for security measures so you don't accidentally format your harddrive.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
