K so i been reading lots of forms from back in 2008 on how to rip blu ray to my ps3 but still having a few problems.
So i use anydvd HD works but still using the trial version anyone got something better thats free?

After the files are on my hard drive is there a free program i can use to convert those files for the PS3? I would like to keep the full HD quality of the video and the 5.1 surround sound. I have found programs to keep full HD but not the surround sound. any ideas?
And how do i transfer the 8 gig file to a FAT 32 HD when its only supports 4 gigs?

For converting use this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/621809

Also regarding file size, the PS3's internal HDD isnt FAT32,so putting and 8GB file on a dual layer disc and copying it over will be no problem.

jusone808 first, you should download the entirly working copy of anydvd HD, it takes no more than a few minuts to find the torrent, download, install, and have working. heres the one i used http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5031840/..._By_ChattChitto
(its pretty self explanatory but can help you with anything you need)

as for converting. the better word to use would be encoding cause there is a FAT32 Hard Drive cap of 4GB's

yes you can stream through a media server and get roughly any size file onto your ps3 hard drive. but theres no direct copying with it and you will not be able to store it on a FAT32 external hard drive.

as for the software ripbot264 has 5.1 Dolby Digital audio encoding along with the H.264 video encoding. if you rip your blu-rays and size them down to 4096 at 1080p they have almost the same quality as your blu ray movies. and can direct copy and store for playback on an external via ps3

zax808 that is a direct link to copyright material, which is against forum rules,im sure the rules for a senior member shouldnt be too hard to understand.

Actually Marcusita he has not violated any rules.

Since he is linking to a site and not an ISO for direct download there is no violation.

jusone808 can your CPU handle the work load?

cause ripbot hogs the usage!

oh and dont leave it on low priority mode

I have an HP dv9700 notebook T8100 2.1 GHZ 4GB memory and 64 bit processor intel core 2 duo
i got pass the 16 percent demuxing, i turned off low priority and shows 12 hours to complete one movie. still in progress....

i tired xilisoft HD converter too which encodes faster but when playing it comes up with a different language and no way to change it and also if i encode to h264 the video does not play on the ps3 but if encode to an mpeg it plays fine but in a different language but im not sure if its HD.

Is there another program everyone is using with a better interface and a little faster? I see all the torrents out there with 5.1 sound and H264 but not sure on the program there using. any ideas?

well there are a NUMBER of 5.1 H.264 encoding programs you could use. people like ripbot for its simplicity. but if you wanna try somthing else there are programs like handbrake, AutoMKV, MeGUI, and so on and so on. they just require alot of adjustments to the settings and can take awhile to really get down.

Oh and by the way, 8hrs isn't to shabby for 2.1 GHZ 4GB memory and 64 bit processor intel core 2 duo. im running a similar setup and it takes me 17hrs to complete a 1080p High-Quality 2Pass Encode.

Hey all

Sorry to jump in at the end of this thread - I've been reading through various forums here and on Doom9 as I'm trying to work out how to stream backed up bluray content from a NAS box (Qnap 409 running Twonky) to my PS3. Mods - apologies if this is bending the rules, please feel free to migrate my post...

Some content I've backed up works perfectly, but since the PS3 firmware updated to v2.35 I seem to get "This content cannot be played (80028801)" pretty much all the time (thanks $ony...). I own loads of BR discs and want them backed up to my NAS box so I don't have to take the disc out of the draw, put the disc in the PS3, navigate through the menus', etc etc. Stuff shelling out for a new PS3 every 12 months just because the 'laser' gets tired!! :)

I've installed Ripbot264 and can rip BR to MP4/MKV files without too many problems. My PC is a dual core 3GHZ CPU clocked at 3.6GHZ, with 4GB of DDR2 RAM clocked at 480MHZ (effective 960MHZ) on an Asus 'board with 2 x 80GB HDD's (non RAID) running Vista 64. So it's no slouch...

Ripbot takes anywhere from 12 hours to 48 hours to rip a full disk, depending on the settings - but I'm guessing it really shouldn't be taking this long. Anyone? Bueller?? Bueller???

CPU load is (are both...) typically maxxed out while it encodes. As I understand from Odin, Ryu, and various other fonts of knowledge (thanks guys) the quality setting in the rip profile can't be higher than 4.0 otherwise the PS3 can't play the content. There's also lots of reference to VC-1 content not streaming, and AC3 audio within an MP4 container also causing content not to stream.

Anyone know of an easier way to take BR content off of my discs into a format which I can stream via Twonky on the NAS, down a cable, to my PS3? I'd dearly love a 'one stop shop' solution, and thought I'd cracked it for a while. Not sure whether it's PS3 firmware throwing a spanner in the works or my choice of encoding method.

Any and all help very greatly appreciated. I'll happily install other things and chew through any other posts which are relevant...

Cheers

Lafarge

have you tried the m2ts/AVCHD extension while encoding with ripbot? its got 5.1 dolby digital audio at 640kbps and never gives you those corrupt/unsupported errors

Thanks Zak, appreciate your input - I'll start the current rip again when I get home and see what happens.

Any thoughts on why Ripbot is taking so long? I'm an ex PC builder by trade so I'm reasonably confident (barring Vista...) that my rig is working well, particularly as both the CPU and RAM are overclocked by c.20%

Cheers :)

...so I reduced the CQ count to 18 after reading a few more threads, as my backups are going onto a 3TB NAS and having a slightly larger file really isn't that much of an issue. I started the same backup and Ripbot again showed a completion time of c.43 hours.

Surely something isn't right here? I've heard of people with a Q9650 completing a full 2 hour decode in 1.5 hours (whether that's true or not remains to be seen) so halving the number of cores, but increasing the core speed along with the RAM transfer speeds should see me running a similar decode in less than 10 hours...shouldn't it?

Anyone? Bueller?? :)

well if you dont mind having a bunch of discs laying around then you could buy some dual layer dvds witch have a capacity of 8.54 GB's a disc. Or buy some BD-R (Blu-ray Disc recordable)if you need the size. Disc capacities for BD-R are 25 GB (23.31 GiB) for single layer discs and 50 GB (46.61 GiB) for dual layer discs.

if you dont wanna go with that option then you can stream through a media server and get roughly any size file onto your ps3 hard drive. but theres no direct copying with it and you will not be able to store it on a FAT32 external hard drive. (theres no trick to getting files larger then 4GB's onto the PS3! plain and simple!)

Lafarge, your right.if its taking 43hrs for an encode with the setup you have. something is DEFENETLY wrong. ripbot is sort of notorious for its lengthy encoding process but thats just to much.

i got a similar setup to jusone808 (2.1 GHZ 4GB memory and 64 bit processor intel core 2 duo) and as stated before it only takes me about 17hrs to complete a 1080p High-Quality 2Pass Encode.

not sure what could be eating up your usage.... :/

Thanks again Zak, I think I need to start again with the OS. Never been convinced with Vista (64 home premium edition) from the off.

Nothing else is chewing my CPU, it's Ripbot32.exe at 97% pretty much the whole time. Flatlining a rig with these specs for 40 hours or so is definitely wrong.

Let's see if I can get a Linux boot sorted instead :)

Appreciate your input my friend - thank you...

Rip Blu-Ray to PS3, you can try to use Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper.

I hope it works for you!
