PAL Game Being Jumpy

I got SSBB from a friend and I have played it on my NTSC Wii with backup loader and it's all jumpy so I reload it forcing NTSC and it plays fine. I just checked the disc with WUM and it says its PAL. All my Wii options are fine and nothing seems to be wrong. With this being said, is playing PAL games on my NTSC Wii safe by forcing PAL with backup launcher? OR should I avoid this?

Usually you would FORCE NTSC on a NTSC system and a PAL game.

Yes, sorry I corrected that just now.
Basically, it is safe to play out of region discs as long as there is no disc update on the disc?
Correct me if I'm wrong
