does anyone know how to find out what mod i have, and how to update it. will i need any leads and if so which ones

The only SURE way is to tkae it apart and ID it.

Of course, you could try a hit or miss method and try updating it with update disks for various modchips, but then you take the risk of permanently ruining your modchip.

Some modchips are NOT updateable. SOme modchips require addl. equipment (JTAG programmer) but those typically don't require updating.
